Dark Forest Trainees AU part 12:
Ivypool was sitting with Breezepelt and Harespring. She didn’t exactly want to be there, but Blossomfall was out patrolling with Pebblefoot and Birchfall, so she had no one else to talk to.
Heathertail trotted over. “Hey-oh hello Ivypool.” she dipped her head in greeting.
“Hi.” Ivypool returned.
Breezepelt fluffed out his pelt. “Yeah Ivypool’s over here. Be nice.”
Ivypool bit back a snarky remark. *‘Be nice’. Take your own advice!*
Heathertail’s eyes gleamed with amusement. “I think you’re the one who needs to be nice.”
“I am extremely nice!” Breezepelt protested.
“Compared to a badger.” Harespring added, whiskers twitching.
Breezepelt swatted at him with a sheathed paw. “Well at least im not a mouse-brain!”
“Eh. . .” Ivypool couldn’t resist joining in on the playful slander.
“I’m *not*!” Breezepelt insisted. “I’m smarter than Crowfeather!”
“Doesn’t take much.” Ivypool reasoned.
Breezepelt’s eyes brightened. “I know!” He sounded excited for whatever reason.
“Seriously, what kind of father just neglects their kit?” Heathertail asked with disdain. “He was a good mentor. . . but as a parent. . . yikes.”
“It’s like he loved you more than he loved me!” Breezepelt spat.
“Which is ridiculous. I mean, you’re so lovable!” Heathertail nuzzled his cheek. Breezepelt’s fur prickled with embarrassment.
Harespring and Ivypool exchanged an amused glance.
*Breezepelt and lovable do not belong in the same sentence.* She thought, then realized how cruel the thought was. Breezepelt had been so much happier since they’d left the clans. He was still an irritable little mouse-brain, but he wasn’t terrible or evil. He was just. . . well, grumpy.
“Don’t laugh at me!” Breezepelt snapped. “You’re all just jealous. I have a mate, do you? Didn’t think so.” he lashed his tail.
Harespring twitched his whiskers. “Aw. he’s not an angry puff-ball sometimes.”
“I will tear the rest of your tail off!” Breezepelt threatened.
“Then i’ll live up to my prefix.” Harespring pointed out.
“Oh so you want me to tear it off?” Breezepelt questioned, sliding out his claws, a quiet purr in his throat.
“No! Please don’t!” Harespring scrambled away from him. “I like balancing!”
“. . .” Breezepelt opened his jaws, then closed them.
“What were you about to say?” Harespring demanded.
Breezepelt snickered. “You said you like balancing. I was merely going to add, ‘and Pebblefoot’.”
“Oh get a grip.” Harespring rolled his eyes.
“So you don't like Pebblefoot?”
“No-well i mean yes-well no! But yes-I mean-like as a friend.” Harespring stammered.
Breezepelt looked less convinced than if a kit had declared they were clan leader. “Sure. . . friends flirt all the time. . .”
“We don't *flirt*!” Harespring retorted.
“So you were just confessing?” Breezepelt tipped his head with false curiosity.
“For StarClan’s sake, shut up!” Harespring fell dramatically to the ground.
“Oops. i killed him.” Breezepelt stood up and trotted away.
Heathertail snorted. “What a strange cat.” she echoed Ivypool’s earlier sentiment.
Harespring groaned. “He’s so annoying sometimes!”
“Yeah.” Ivypool agreed.
Even Heathertail nodded.
Night fell over the clearing, Ivypool waited for Darktail to join her for guard duty. He was speaking with Raven and Rain. the former of which looked distraught. Ivypool couldn’t make out what they were saying, but she felt incredibly uneasy. Once or twice, Darktail glanced in her direction.
Ivypool briefly considered if she should ask another cat to sit guard with them. She couldn’t explain why, but she felt being alone with Darktail could only end in disaster. Maybe she was overreacting, or maybe there really was something wrong with Darktail.
*I’m overreacting!* She tried to tell herself. *He’s done nothing to harm anyone. Why would he?* But their earlier conversation kept coming to mind. Why had he been so apathetic while explaining events from his past, except for one. . . and the grief there had been swamped by anger. Was Darktail planning something? Something for tonight? Something unforgivable, perhaps.
She didn’t have any more time to dwell on her thoughts because Darktail headed over to her. His expression was friendly, but it felt forced. She didn’t want to think about it. Maybe she was just being overly cautious. Or maybe she was right. And for once, she prayed she wasn’t.

I hate the way beginner artists are shunned. It's really sad, actually. And even more so when it's other artists. It's like they don't remember being a beginner themselves.
Anyway, I'm not in a good mood today, so I'm going to try making other people's days better :3
I'm going to be subscribing to every artist who comments on this post! And I'll also shout them out! (If I'm already subbed to you, I'll go comment on three of your videos)

Dashing Ashes AU Special Scene ✨️✨️✨️
-Kitten Steps-
Thunder’s POV:
Thunder sat curled in his nest. He was trying not to cry. It had been five days since Star Flower’s exile but still stung just as much as when his father had first told him what she'd done.
“Thunder?”
He looked up, Frost was standing at the den entrance, eyes dark with concern.
“What?” Thunder asked, curling tighter around himself.
Frost sat down beside him. “Thunder, is this about Star Flower?” He prompted gently.
“I don't know what ‘this’ is!” He snapped, instantly cursing himself for snapping at his dad. “Sorry. . .” He mumbled.
“You've been distraught since she. . . Well, there's no other way to put it than, since she left you to try getting with your father.” He mewed bluntly.
Thunder let out a whine as though he'd been struck. He didn't even want to think about it.
Frost laid down beside Thunder. “Hey, do you want to come hunting with me? Would that help?”
Thunder nodded numbly. “Y-yeah. . .”
Frost helped him up. “Alright then, come on.”
Thunder heaved himself to his paws. He followed Frost out into the clearing.
Lightning Tail bounded over. “Hey Thunder!” He greeted him cheerfully.
Thunder waved his tail. “Hi.”
Lightning Tail lapped Thunder's cheek. “You ok?” his voice lowered.
Thunder shrugged.
“We were going off hunting, care to join us?” Frost offered.
Lightning Tail nodded. “Sure!”
Thunder trailed at the back of the hunting party. He hadn't caught anything yet. He was too distracted.
Lightning Tail fell back to walk beside him. “It's a pretty good day for leaf-bare.” He purred.
Thunder shrugged.
“Remember when we were really little kits and you pushed me into the snow?” Lightning Tail asked teasingly.
“I didn't push you,” Thunder protested. “You slipped and fell.”
“Because you pushed me!” Lightning Tail insisted.
Thunder fluffed out his pelt. “I did not!”
Lightning Tail suddenly pounced on him. “Did too!”
Thunder wrestled Lightning Tail off him. “Why did you attack me?!”
“Revenge!” Lightning Tail jumped for him again.
Thunder dodged and pushed his friend down. “I'm innocent!” He felt a purr bubbling in his throat.
“That's what a guilty cat would say!” Lightning Tail retorted, freeing himself from Thunder's grip and kicking snow at him.
Thunder crouched down, tail flicking back and forth. “Do you think snow is going to defeat me?” He demanded.
“Well I mean Bumble defeated your father with leaves once.” Lightning Tail responded.
Thunder rolled his eyes, and in that moment, Lightning Tail tackled him to the ground. “I have the upper paw! Give up!” He shrieked, with all the playfulness of a kit.
“You do not!” Thunder flipped him over. “I do!”
Lightning Tail gave up, and he laid on the snowy ground panting. “Fine. . . I'll *let* you win. . .”
Thunder smacked him with his tail. “I've won! You didn't let me do anything!”
Lightning Tail rolled onto his stomach. “If I wanted to win, I would've!”
“No.” Thunder huffed. “I'd beat you any day.”
Lightning Tail sat up and stretched. “You could try. But you'd fail.” he paused, and the two abruptly froze.
They stared at each other in awkward silence. Thunder fidgeted his paws, unsure of whether or not he should speak. Lightning Tail gazed at him. A deep, blazing affection glowing in his yellow eyes.
Finally, after time that seemed to stretch on for seasons, Lightning Tail finally spoke. “Thunder. . . I. . . Uh. . .”
Thunder's fur rippled uncomfortably. His stomach was twisting itself into a knot.
Lightning Tail swiftly bent forward and pressed his nose to Thunder's cheek. He quickly jumped to his paws and scurried off.
Thunder watched him go. He realized he didn't want him to. He'd finally gotten the hint. He wasn’t sure he returned Lightning Tail's feelings. . . It was still worth talking about, though. . .
*It's too soon to decide anything yet. But I think it's good that I know. . . How have I never seen it before?* Lightning Tail had so openly flirted with him before. Why had he been so oblivious?!
This whole time, he'd been chasing after a cat who didn't even care about him when there was someone who actually cared about him right at his side the whole time.
*Wait. . . So did he actually suspect Star Flower from the start. . . Or was he just jealous?*
An: To answer Thunder's question, yes.

Dark Forest Trainees AU part 11
Ivypool's POV:
“Well we’d better gather them now before leaf-bare sets in!” Minnowtail called.
“Aren’t the stems already dead?” Raven asked with a tip of her head.
“Not all of them.” Minnowtail answered. “Some will have been sheltered from the first frost by the ones that *did* die.”
Ivypool watched as the two she-cats headed to the herb dense areas of the Willow Grove.
Apricot slid out of his and Icewing’s den. She'd finally gotten a nest-mate. Since Ratscar had decided to sleep on the floor of Ivypool and Whiskernose's den.
“Morning Apricot!” She called.
He blinked at her. “Yes it is the morning. Why?”
*Nevermind*. She shook out her pelt. “Oh no reason, just uh. . . Trying to be polite.”
Apricot snorted. “What does telling me that it's the morning have to do with politeness?” he trotted off.
Ivypool turned back to the foraging patrol. Blossomfall had joined them. Minnowtail paused. “I uh. . . don't know how I'm supposed to find these. . .” she admitted awkwardly.
Raven shifted her paws. “Oh maybe we should. . . uh dig?” she suggested.
“Dig what?” Blossomfall asked.
“I don't know!” Raven tapped her claws on the snowy ground.
“What are they doing?”
Ivypool turned, spotting Darktail standing a few fox-lengths off, watching through half narrowed eyes. “Minnowtail asked Raven to help her gather herbs, and Blossomfall joined them.”
Darktail sat down beside Ivypool. “So you still act like a clan? Like you have a medicine cat.” he clarified.
“I mean, I guess. Having a group is hardly unique to the clans.” Ivypool reasoned.
Darktail shrugged. “Yeah-yeah whatever.”
Ivypool watched as Blossomfall kicked up snow, and it showered over Raven.
“So what happened in your old group, if you don't mind me asking.” Ivypool wondered if Darktail was only acting so suspicious because he was scared of them. Rain seemed pretty jumpy, too.
Raven spun around, fluffing out her pelt.
Darktail’s eyes shimmered with panic for a second so brief, Ivypool wondered if she’d imagined it. “Well it started when my friend died. He got sick with green-cough a few leaf-bares ago. . . the group didn’t want to treat him. . . h-he died. . ." His gaze darkened with grief.
From the corner of her eye, Ivypool saw Raven tackle Blossomfall.
“Oh I'm sorry.” Ivypool told him sympathetically.
Darktail shook his head sadly. “Then. . . Raven’s real family joined the group. They were the worst and always caused problems. We got sick of dealing with them after a while.” his former grief had disappeared like morning dew.
Blossomfall threw Raven off her and dived onto the black she-cat. Raven swiped snow up at Blossomfall. “I shall not be challenged by *snow*!” she yowled.
“If you don't mind me asking, how’d you even end up there?” Ivypool tipped her head.
Darktail’s eyes burned with a deep, unfiltered anger. “It started when my father rejected my mother after she’d requested to join his *clan*. Yes, my father is a clan cat. Imagine that. Well, on the way home, my mother ended up giving birth, but without help, all my littermates *died*. All four of them. Then my mother was killed by four rogues. . .” he trailed off, eyes darkening with horror, as though he hadn’t meant to reveal any or most of what he’d just said. He dug his claws into the ground and sat rigidly.
Ivypool looked back at Blossomfall and Raven, seeing they were engaged in a snow-fight. Minnowtail watched them, balled up some snow, and then kicked it at Raven.
Raven squealed like an excited kit and threw snow back.
Blossomfall leaped onto Raven, the black she-cat twisted in a way that sent both of them tumbling across the small clearing. When they broke apart, Raven sat up, laughing at an obnoxious volume.
Darktail watched, expression soft. “I’ve never seen her look so happy. . .” he murmured to himself.
Blossomfall pounced on Raven again, Raven batted her away and fell over. “Fear me! I am Raven! I have eaten dogs!”
Blossomfall snorted. “Why are you eating dogs? You fluffing weirdo!”
Raven rolled onto her back. “Dog is tasty. Yum yum.”
“Psychotic behavior.” Blossomfall nudged Raven playfully.
*Huh. . . Did not expect to see Blossomfall acting so friendly.*
“Why do you always stare at Blossomfall?”
Ivypool jumped. “Ah!” She scrambled away. She'd almost forgotten Darktail was there, and he'd been hovering over her. “Why are you asking?”
“Cause.” He answered.
*What a strange cat. . .*
“Hey Ivypool, wanna try your paw at swimming again?” Pebblefoot called to her.
Ivypool wanted to say yes in order to spend time with her friend. But she also knew she just wasn't prepared to just yet.
Breezepelt trotted past her. “Ya know Ivypool, maybe if you'd keep your promise to Blossomfall, she'd wanna be your mate.”
Ivypool scoffed. “Are you trying to give me relationship advice?”
“No.” Breezepelt answered with a lash of his tail.
Darktail stopped beside Ivypool. He'd been following Breezepelt, as the two had gone on a hunting patrol that afternoon. “Is Breezepelt your friend?” He asked as the black tom headed over to Heathertail.
Ivypool blinked at Darktail in surprise. “No.” She considered Darktail more of a friend than *Breezepelt*. Even if she still had lingering suspicions towards the black and white tom. He wasn't nearly as irritating as Breezepelt.
“Oh. . . I mean, he's much nicer to you than a lot of the other cats. . .” Darktail scuffed the ground, seeming to silently curse himself.
Ivypool chuckled. “Yeah he is, but that really doesn't mean much.” She had accepted a while ago that she and Breezepelt were just neutral with each other. She didn't like him, he didn't like her. But they still bantered once in a blue moon.
Darktail nodded. “True. I kinda like him. He was nice while we hunted.” he seemed to be gauging her reaction.
“Eh. Good for you.” She was pleased he'd finally started getting along with someone in the group, even if it was only Breezepelt.
Darktail licked his chest. “So Ivypool, wanna be on guard duty with me tonight?”
Ivypool smiled. “Sure!”
Note: Darktail’s story about his dead friend is different from the one told in Hawkwing’s Journey on purpose.
