​Today is the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, so we wanted to share something bright to celebrate the return of longer days!

​This incredible photo by Jaroslav Fous (via the @World Meteorological Organization) shows a "Diamond Dust" halo. It’s created by tiny ice crystals reflecting light in the freezing air. It almost looks like an eye in the sky, doesn't it? 👁️

Here in Finland 🇫🇮, reindeer herders have experimented with spraying reflective paint on the animals’ antlers to help reduce road accidents.

At night, the antlers reflect car headlights, creating an otherworldly glow that looks straight out of a sci-fi movie. Some call it a genius safety measure, others find it unusual, but it’s certainly hard to miss.
