It’s been a weird, frustrating process getting Lift on to YouTube, for technological and emotional reasons. I made the bigger tracks on this album in September through December of 2024. It’s not that long ago really, but being a teenager and also someone who is just constantly creating as a way to be happy, I’ve gone through a lot of personal evolutions since then. That’s really cool, because I can look back at this and think how much happier I am in myself. It did make going back to these songs, listening to them all, figuring out an order that made sense, etc. a bit of an ordeal though, because I don’t have the same enthusiasm for them. The lack of enthusiasm is also why I chose to leave some songs unfinished or not as good as they could’ve been; I’d rather put my creative energy into something else. I have listened to most of the tracks a bajillion times, but you are listening to them for the first. (Unless you’ve come back, which is very nice of you.) Having over-thought about the quality of this album in the lead up to putting it on here, I have concluded there’s no point in procrastinating any longer. Once this is out there, I can get on with stuff I am much more enthusiastic about. So it’s all good.
