Hello all. It is a very sad day in the eurobeat
community as we have learned that Mauro Farina
has passed away at the age of 68.
Known for his work on several different labels
under an enormous amount of different aliases,
Mauro Farina was one of the true godfathers of
eurobeat music. Composing and producing dance
music in Italy for decades, Farina's style helped to
usher in the era of eurobeat as we know it today. In
1981, he co-founded the SAIFAM group. The label
is often regarded as a pioneer of the Hi-NRG music
style, but its impact on eurobeat cannot be
overstated. There are even stories of Farina himself
being the one who initially came up with the term
"eurobeat" to describe the music he was making in
the 1980s. His extensive work as a writer, producer,
and vocalist is felt throughout the realm of
eurobeat, as hundreds of songs bear his name in
various capacities across the genre. As the
decades past, Farina's sound continued to evolve
along with that of eurobeat itself, even up to
SAIFAM's most recent releases. He will be sorely
missed, and his music will doubtless inspire
countless eurobeat artists long into the future.
In honour of this legend, the next five uploads will
be songs by Mauro Farina. Let us enjoy the
wonderful music that defined such a passionate,
creative soul. May he rest in peace.
