Formed in Dublin in 1985 by street performers Liam Ó Maonlaí and Fiachna Ó Braonáin, HOTHOUSE FLOWERS quickly gained attention. Their 1988 debut album, People, became Ireland’s most successful debut, reaching No. 1 at home and No. 2 in the UK. After a hiatus in 1994, they reunited in 1998 and continue to tour and release music today.

World Party was a British musical group founded in 1986 by Karl Wallinger, a former member of the Waterboys. Though often perceived as a band, World Party was primarily Wallinger’s solo project, with him writing, producing, and performing most of the music. The group’s sound blended pop, rock, and socially conscious lyrics, producing memorable hits like "Ship of Fools," "Way Down Now," "Put the Message in the Box," and "Is It Like Today?". World Party also originally recorded "She's the One," later popularized by Robbie Williams. Over the years, Wallinger was joined by notable musicians including Guy Chambers, Chris Sharrock, and Amanda Kramer, leaving a lasting mark on the alternative rock scene of the late 1980s and 1990s. Karl Wallinger passed away in 2024.

J.J. Cale was an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter, known for his laid-back style and pioneering role in the Tulsa sound—a fusion of blues, rockabilly, country, and jazz. Though he shunned fame, his music left a lasting impact, influencing legends like Eric Clapton, Neil Young, and Mark Knopfler. Clapton, who covered Cale’s After Midnight and Cocaine, called him one of the most important artists in rock history. With his understated vocals and signature groove, Cale’s work continues to resonate, shaping generations of musicians and defining a uniquely relaxed yet deeply soulful sound.
