đź’” The Wound You're Handing Down
The porn is a symptom, not the problem. Your real problem is the wound it's numbing, and the shame you carry because of it.
Here's the part most men never consider: your deepest wounds didn't start with you — and they may not stop with you either.
Many of the men I've walked through this have wounds that started with their fathers, or another man in their life. Often, the porn did too.
Maybe you were exposed to something when you were far too young. Maybe you were victimized in a way you've never spoken of to anyone. Or maybe none of that happened — your father did his best to protect you — but he wrestled the same thing and the enemy he never fully vanquished found an opportunity to take advantage of you.
Regardless, if you don't tend to your wound and vanquish that enemy in your generation, you're likely to pass it on to the next generation in one form or another.
What will you pass on to your kids?

đź’Ť Your Marriage & Career Are More Connected Than You Think
As a counselor and coach, I've often been asked how a man can fix his marriage, or finally get the promotion he's been working for, or break a habit he's ashamed of.
Here's the pattern I've seen over and over: these aren't three separate problems. They're the same root, sprouting up in three different places.
A man who hasn't built his identity on a solid foundation — who he actually is in Christ, apart from performance — tends to lead reactively at work, defensively at home, and compulsively when he's alone.
Fix the identity issue and you kill the root system. Try to fix each surface problem individually and you'll be pulling up the same weeds forever.
Most men never see the connection because they never look deeper than the problems in front of them, and no one has ever shown them the root system beneath the surface.
Which problem are you trying to fix?

đź’Ş You're Carrying More Than You're Built For
Here's a paradox: the men who seem most "put-together" often carry the most alone.
The more capable you are, the more people lean on you — and the less permission you feel to need anything yourself.
I've talked with pastors, first responders, business executives, devoted dads — men everyone else looks up to — who never say out loud what's actually going on inside them. Not to their wife. Not to their friends. Not to anyone.
They carry their burdens quietly, telling themselves they have to be strong for others.
But that's not strength. That's a dam holding back more than it was built for.
Scripture never once describes the Christian life as a solo venture. Every picture we get — body, army, flock, family — is corporate. The isolation so many men are living in isn't just uncomfortable. It's unbiblical.
What are you carrying?

⚔️ You're Fighting the Wrong Thing
Porn. Anger with your wife. Sleepless nights worrying. Withdrawing instead of leading. Numbing out after work instead of being present with your kids.
Men usually treat these as the problem to fix. White-knuckle it. Pray harder. Try again Monday.
In years of walking men through this, I've yet to find one where the surface behavior was the actual issue. Behavior patterns serve a function — numbing something, protecting something, avoiding something — driven by a wound in your heart or a lie you've believed lurking beneath the surface.
Something from childhood: a father who wasn't present — or was present in the wrong way; a moment you decided you had to handle everything alone; a deep-seated belief that you're just not good enough.
The question is never whether there's something underneath. It's whether you've ever been willing to look.
Most men have never learned how — or had the safe company — to do so.
Have you?

🎠The Man You Perform vs. The Man You Are
Most Christian men have gotten very good at one thing: looking like they've got it together.
Show up. Say the right things. Work more. Listen better. Try harder. Keep leading, keep providing, keep smiling for your friends, your co-workers, and fellow church members…
But there's a version of you that only shows up in the privacy of your home, when no one's watching. And for a lot of men, that version looks very different from the one everyone else sees.
Here's what I've noticed after years of sitting across from men in this exact situation: that gap doesn't close on its own. It doesn't close with more discipline, more Bible reading, more serving, more willpower... or even more patience. It actually tends to widen — quietly — the longer it's ignored.
You aren't fighting a problem with porn, or anxiety, or the arguments with your wife. You're fighting a problem with disconnection that's been hiding behind all three.
So the real question is, why are you disconnected?
That's the question most men never let themselves ask.
With love & grace,
Gabriel

What Does Real Help Actually Look Like?
Job's three friends sat with him for days.
Then they spent chapters defending God and accusing Job of hidden sin.
They thought they were helping.
They made it worse.
Then one young man stepped forward and did something completely different.
He didn't give Job a framework for his pain.
He turned Job's face back toward God.
That's the whole model for what real help is supposed to look like — and most people are getting it backwards.
I wrote about what Elihu actually did, and why it matters more now than ever.

Stop Chasing the Miracle. Chase the One Who Is the Miracle:
There was a woman who spent twelve years and everything she had chasing healing.
Every method. Every resource. Every person who said they could help.
She was worse.
You know what twelve years of striving couldn't do that one moment with Jesus did?
I wrote about what she did differently — and what Bartimaeus understood that most of us are still missing.
If you've been chasing healing instead of the Healer this one is going to hit.

You Can't Finish by the Flesh What the Spirit Started:
You surrendered on day one.
You didn't earn it. You didn't have it together.
You just came — and He met you there.
So why is it that the moment something new surfaces we immediately reach for our own strength?
Paul called this out directly in Galatians and he wasn't gentle about it.
I wrote about the pattern Scripture actually calls us to every single time something new rises to the surface.
It's not what most people are doing.
