I’ve done 250+ interior consultation calls, and this is what I have learned!

After putting out content on Instagram as reels for 2 years, I felt that there were so many things I wanted to share in detail, but because of time limitations, I couldn’t do it. So, we started uploading long-format videos on YouTube regularly from August 2024. Slowly and steadily, we began gaining viewership.

Being an interior designer, my prime focus has always been on projects. Even today, I channelise 80% of my time and energy towards the interior design projects we’re doing at Unity Interiors, and 20% towards YouTube and Instagram videos. Yes, only 20%.

But the more videos I uploaded on YouTube, the more I realised how much they were helping people who are designing their homes. They feel immense happiness when their problems get solved through a 10-minute video and being able to help someone is my core happiness.

In October 2024, I met ‪@Houmeindia‬, and he suggested that I should start providing consultations too. After some thought, I felt, “Yes, that’s a good idea,” because the problems people face while designing their homes vary from case to case.

And that’s how we started offering interior design consultations. We kept a few slots open at a certain price without even knowing whether anyone would actually book or not.

Initially, the response was low. People were unclear about what they would receive in a consultation call. So, we created a video explaining everything, what is covered, what is not, the entire process, the pre-consultation call from our team, and the post-consultation notes.

To our surprise, we started getting more and more bookings. Yes, some people felt the prices were high for them, but they got to discuss and solve their queries directly with me. Many people booked consultations at different stages of their interior design journey.

What I learned from giving online consultations to 250+ people is that everyone comes with something they cannot solve on their own or need a second opinion for. There are cities and villages where skilled workers are still a challenge. Materials and products aren’t easily available. My agenda is always to help them get the best out of the money they’re spending. And with just 15–30 minutes of my time, they’re able to create something exceptionally good. I am forever grateful for being chosen to help people solve their interior design queries.
