The Lattice of Light

Growing up, I didn’t really know my father.
He was there… but not really there.
Silent. Distant. Almost like a shadow in the house.

There were no long talks. No deep hugs. No “I’m proud of you.”
And for years, I thought it didn’t bother me.

But it did.
It shaped how I loved, how I trusted, how I performed just to be seen.

This song — “I Forgive You, Dad” — was born from the moment I finally stopped waiting for him to come back and say what I needed to hear… and instead whispered it to myself:

“I forgive you. Not because you asked, but because I need peace.”

I can only write this as a song…
because I can’t tell him.
He passed away on September 10, 2009.
And these are the words I never got to say.

This is my soul’s release.
It’s for the sons who became men too early.
For those who carried silence like fire in their chest.

If this resonates, give it a listen.
Or simply share it with someone who’s still waiting for a father that may never speak.

You’re not alone.
