Our port day in Naples was one of the highlights of our recent Marella cruise. From the moment we arrived, the city was full of energy, history, and incredible views of the Bay of Naples with Mount Vesuvius in the background (see the photo).
We spent the day exploring the historic streets, stopping for authentic Neapolitan pizza, pastries, and espresso. The local food absolutely lived up to its reputation. The waterfront was beautiful for a leisurely walk, and there were plenty of shops and cafés to enjoy along the way.
To be honest, Naples can feel busy and a bit chaotic at first, but that's part of its charm. The city has a vibrant, authentic atmosphere that makes it feel very different from many other cruise ports. We also appreciated how easy it was to explore from the cruise terminal, whether on foot or by using local transportation or organised excursions.
If you're visiting on your Marella cruise, I'd recommend planning your day in advance so you can make the most of your time. Whether you choose to stay in Naples or take an excursion to the nearby attractions, there's something for everyone.
Overall, our port day in Naples was memorable, delicious, and full of culture. It's a destination I'd happily visit again, and it was a fantastic stop on our Marella cruise itinerary.🚢👍😎
