Hey guys, I wanted to let you know that I started a new channel called Man In The Making.

youtube.com/@man_in_the_making

The elevator pitch is that I've never felt manly, so I wanted to learn the skills that every man "should" know in an attempt to become more manly.

The plan is to make these videos pretty light hearted and (hopefully) entertaining. Odds are if you like my videos, you'll also like these.

Anyways, I've been a bit uninspired by the Devin Nagami channel for the better part of 2024 and needed a change. I'm not giving up on this channel, but I wanted to find a way to continue enjoy making videos, and this is my current solution.

Hope you are well!

Devin

I'm thinking of doing a Q&A for my 26th birthday next week and I need questions from YOU to make that happen.

Drop your questions down below. If you'd rather your questions be submitted privately, send them to my email: devin.nagami@gmail.com

Hey friends,

I know many of you love self-development books, so I wanted your input on something.

I'm thinking about starting a free community (on Skool) to connect like minded people who love to read/learn about personal development.

Here's what I was thinking:

- A monthly self-development book club (learning together fast tracks the learning process)
- I could share my personal highlights from dozens of self-development books that I've read over the past few years (others can do the same)
- You can ask questions about your favourite self-development books/concepts to other people in the community
- Share your biggest learnings from the books you've learned
- Book recommendations
- Accountability to read more/improve yourself/stick to your goals and support from a group of people trying to do the same
- Connect with people also on their self-development journey and form new friendships
- Live group calls
- Tips/tricks to read more books
- and whatever else we want to add.

This is a really early idea, so I'm open to any suggestions/feedback.

Like this post, leave a comment, or email me (devin.nagami@gmail.com) if this is something you're interested in.

There's no commitment required right now, I'm just trying to gauge interest in this sort of thing.

Thanks in advance! I appreciate all of you :)

Hi friend,

When Jordan Peterson first entered the job market, he was actively discouraged by his graduate supervisor from talking about Carl Jung during interviews (Jung’s psychology was supposedly taboo at the time).

However, Jordan - in typical Jordan fashion - did not listen to this advice and decided to talk about whatever interested him. Jung included.

So, what happened?

Well, as expected, some schools didn’t like this.

But some did.

And Harvard was one of those schools.

Jordan explains, “That’s one of the advantages of being true to your own vision, you won’t get what you don’t want”

You won’t get what you don’t want.

So fucking good.

Near the end of last year I wrote down 3 words that I would like to be described by and one of them was “authentic”.

I’ve always struggled to be authentic. Or at least that’s how it feels. I think it’s because I care too much about what people think of me. For the longest time I would put on a mask and pretend to be a character of myself. I would gladly sacrifice authenticity to fit in. I still do.

But the issue with acting in a way that isn’t true to who you are, is that you attract things that aren’t true to who you are.

The relationships you develop, the opportunities that present themselves, the paths you find yourself on.

They’re what your persona wants, but not what you want.

And as a result, you build a life you don’t want to live just to avoid the discomfort of not fitting in. Ouch.

Here’s the issue.

When you act to fit in, you have internal conflict because you’re not being 100% you. But when you’re 100% true to yourself, you have external conflict because many see you as “different”.

And that’s why it’s so important to be true to yourself.

Because if there’s discomfort regardless of who you are, what’s the point in being anyone but you?

Not only do you attract things that you actually want. But more importantly, you don’t get what you don’t want.

Tried to initiate a deep conversation with someone and got brushed off? You probably crave more meaningful connections than they do.

Spoke truthfully about an opinion at a job interview and didn’t hear back? You probably wouldn’t have hated the company culture anyways.

Told a dark joke on a first date and got ghosted? They’re probably not much fun to be around.

Every time you feel discomfort for being true to yourself, you are one step closer to getting what you actually want in life.

So, be your true self, especially when it’s uncomfortable.

I hate posting YouTube videos...

You see, there’s a certain threshold that an idea has to reach before it’s turned into a video. As a result, there’s a bunch of really cool ideas that I’d love to share with you that end up staying locked away in my brain.

This makes me sad :(

That’s why I’ve decided to launch a newsletter! It’s called “The Stray Thought” (get it? like, all the ideas in my head that don’t have a proper home).

Subscribe to it here: devin.beehiiv.com/subscribe

I’ll be sharing exclusive content that you won’t get on my YouTube channel.

You can expect:
- insights from my favourite books and podcasts
- amazing quotes
- music that I can't stop listen to
- life hacks
- products that I’m enjoying
- and much more!

It’s going to be very casual. It’s 100% free. I won’t spam you. And if you sign up, I’ll name my 9th child after you.
