Welcome to Reading By the Fire. This channel is inspired by all the years I spent as a child, listening to my father read aloud to the family - from Scripture to C.S. Lewis, to J.R.R. Tolkien, to Kierkegaard at the dinner table. I learned to love both reading, and reading aloud, from him, and continued that tradition with my own children. As my family grows older, I find I still have the urge to read aloud, so this is my outlet. I hope you enjoy your time here beside the fire!
Reading By The Fire
📖✨ “When, in disgrace with fortune and men’s eyes…”
Settle beside the fire as I read William Shakespeare’s Sonnet XXIX — a powerful reflection on envy, despair, and the joy of love remembered.
🔥 Cozy, timeless, and uplifting — let the Bard’s words remind you that love is greater than any sorrow.
