Anthony Dodge The Model Train Outsider
The trials and tribulations of a decidedly overwhelmed buffoon in the world of model trains, featuring HO scale Central European Era VI trains. The definitive "HOW NOT TO" video channel, hosted by me and my various personalities. In the end, it's all about having fun... and I am having fun. I just love running my trains.
The name of the channel comes from both the sense of feeling an outsider because of and within this hobby and a play on all the "Insider" named shows and magazines.
This channel features 4 Elements:
1. The Live Streams
2. The Model Train Outsider- which features the occasional progress on my Layout based on the city of Delmenhorst.
3. The Märklin Outsider- featuring the Märklin System of tracks and control and Märklin-related products.
4. Lots of model-train-related comedy bits.
As this channel appeals to folks from many lands with many languages, I often keep things simplistic to avoid translation issues. They still happen though.

Apparently, I hit 3 milestones this week. I broke half-a-million views, 50K watch hours, and 2700 subscribers. Huge numbers to some, small to others. Meaningless in the great scheme of the universe or even earth. Hey, it's something, right?

Going to be controversial here... but here is an example of the reality of tariffs. This is a copy of a UPS CBD on an eBay buy which is being delivered by UPS. (CBD = Cash Before Delivery)
I paid @ US $11.14 for an item in Canada. The "government charge" is the straight tariff all American buyers pay now for an item overseas. Rates vary according to nation. My tariff (tax) on this eBay buy was US $6.47. That is a 58% markup on the purchase price. We are not done. UPS, because they are an importer, also has to pay a surcharge (tariff aka "tax"), which they also pass on to the purchaser. An additional $24.00 Standard fee. Notice, they do not use the word tariff, but my purchases from Canada just two months ago had neither of these charges, as I already paid the postal fee to the buyer. So, for US $11.14, I wound up paying an additional $30 in tariffs.
We pay the tariffs, people, not the other countries or shipping companies. A tariff is a tax on the buyer, period. When the government says that the tariffs have raised X number of dollars. It came from us the buyer, not the makers, not the shippers. US.

Dear Mark @MMRails This is why I was showing such interest in your Brawa. I have the exact same model, except fitted for AC (3-Rail). I had picked it up on eBay 3 years ago or so, and I had never seen this style of Brawa packaging or "Exclusive Edition" by them. Fortunately, some Germans filled me in on the details.

Well, it took almost 5 years to do it, but our parody song "Digital Killed the Analog Guy" has reached 1500 views. For what it is and being on my channel, that's pretty cool. Still one of my all-time personal favorites.
