Every Marine memorizes 25 rules of leadership at boot camp. Judgment, justice, decisiveness, and 22 more. Most of us can still recite them years after getting out.

A comment on the new video said it should apply to every workplace. He's not wrong.

Which one did your leadership actually live up to, and which one did they fail every single time?

Tuesday I'm trying something different. Full story from my first Afghanistan deployment, the whole thing, the way I'd tell it at the bar. Never done a video like this before. Guesses on what happened? 👇

What's the CRAZIEST Military Myth you've ever heard?

Ever wonder what a a day at Boot camp is like? Is it really 24 hours of hell?

The military broke me in ways nobody warned me about.
Not combat. Not deployment. The mundane stuff.

I got blown up in Afghanistan, tore the brackets out of my helmet. They replaced it with an Army Mitch helmet because that's all they had. When I got back stateside? "We can't take that back." I needed a missing gear statement, a damaged gear statement, routed through my entire command. I still have that helmet sitting in my house.

Deployment return dates were the worst mental game. We thought we were coming home by Thanksgiving. Then mid-December. "Maybe tomorrow. Maybe next week." Over and over until someone walked in and said "grab your stuff, you're leaving in six hours."

Motor pool Mondays made me snap. Brand new trucks delivered. Less than 50 miles on them. We inspected them, everything was perfect. "Something's got to be wrong. Check again." Three times they sent us back. I got so fed up I smashed a reflector with my elbow and wrote it up. "Cracked reflector. Found something."

The strangest part? After enough time in, I stopped getting homesick for home. I got homesick for the Marines. For my guys. The barracks became home. The brotherhood became family.

I'd do it again. Every veteran reading this knows they would too. The stuff that drove us mental is the stuff we laugh hardest about now.

What drove you nuts in the service?
