We use the Shroud as a witnessing tool because it is an impartial witness who gives testimony to the truth in the form of forensic evidence & knows details of the crucifixion, death & resurrection of Jesus that only someone who was there could possibly know. The combination of the unique wounds on Jesus that are written in the Bible & the odd sequence of events following his death are the mathematical equivalent of having a DNA profile of Jesus which we can then compare to the Shroud.
