Time files as they say. It's almost 10 years since I went to the Mystical Tapovan ( not anymore sadly ). It was the month of October 2015, and I just had a small window of 3 days to finish the trek as the weather was meant to worsen because of western disturbance. That meant a high chance of snow accumulation on the boulders of the Gangotri Glacier that we had to traverse during those days to reach Tapovan. That trek was particularly significant for me due to my failed attempt in the year 2012 caused by Altitude Mountain Sickness. I know a few of you share the same passion for Himalayas as I do and also don't mind looking back in time. No 4K, No Drone, No after effects - just a basic trek done and shot with quite primitive shooting gear as per today's standards but has a long lasting memory stored for me. I know that life moves in one direction but consider watching the video once again to relive my experience, if you like looking back once in a while 😊.

Hi All,
Tonight I will be uploading the "Extended" Version of the RoopKund trek in four parts, before the evil eye of Sauron moves to other project.
In case shorts excite you, then enjoy the 2 min short I have created for Roopkund.

Hi friends,
Many of you would have seen a repeat upload of my Roopkund trek ( 2nd part only ). Here's the explanation for it that I have pinned on that video:
This video covers 2024 part of my roopkund trek as clearly indicated by the date on the thumbnail. That date clearly differentiates between this trek and the one I shared 2 weeks back. Many people gave me feedback to keep these two treks ( 2002 and 2024 ) separate. So for the first time i have listened, which was my new year resolution for this year that i will listen to our community members.
I will follow the same template going forward. There will be three versions of my videos with T-shirt size M, L and XL. The XL version will be released in parts- so one can pick whichever suits their need.

I will apply this template retrospectively and will chose selective videos from past.

Thanks.

Hello All,

Let me take this opportunity to wish you all a prosperous and happy New Year 2025!!

Many of you might have seen my new RoopKund trek, which fully covers this trek and shows the same landscape in two different flavours. Would love to hear your feedback and any thoughts, you might have.

I also want to apologise to many of you for not promptly responding to your messages. The reasons were many but I take that on me. That was rude, very rude on my part. I will turn 50 this year ( and I know I sound less mature for my age ) so I better get my act together. so for the very first time in my life, I have a few resolutions for this year. Related to this channel:

1. will keep myself fit by doing some physical activity.
2. But more importantly, I will respond to any messages I receive from you as soon as I can.. I like to engage more with you all, but I struggle due to so many conflicting priorities.

My plan for this year: They are just plans so have a few associated risks too.

-- To Share an extended version of my Roopkund Trek. This is for those who loved the detailed version of my previous treks (in Jan).
-- To create a short, very short 3-4 minute Kuari pass video. That video won’t have any voiceover. Let’s see how it turns out to be. ( Before the end of Feb )
-- Pindari glacier, Face to Face point ( sometime before May this year )
-- a video for those who are 40 plus, to help plan such treks and how to choose guides.
-- And one more trek video in autumn or winter, the usual ritual I have followed for many years.

Let me end this message by saying explicitly how honoured I feel by connecting with you all on this channel. My videos are not for everyone, and one has to have some patience and a real appreciation for the majestic Himalayas.
if you have chosen to stay with me then I am sure you all love the Himalayas.

Best Regards,
Chandan

Hello All,
Because many of you asked me to change the format of the Rudranath trek video to make it more TV and mobile devices friendly, I am uploading a 16:9 aspect ratio version of the same video.
However, I still think that the "3:2" is a better format if seen on a bigger TV for the extra details we see in it. Therefore, I will keep that version available too so one could see the difference, should they wish to.

This message is to clarify in case you start wondering why did i uploaded the same content again. Content is the same but the aspect ratio is different.
