Este domingo estaremos concluyendo el aprendizaje del abecedario árabe. Me da muchísimo gusto ver que ya estamos cerca de terminar el programa y espero que todos estén beneficiándose de estas clases. Después de esta sesión, solamente quedará la última clase, donde aprenderemos algunas reglas básicas que deben conocer para comenzar la lectura del Corán.

Alhamdulillah, my du‘a right before going up to speak was simple: that I do this to please my Creator and, in shā’ Allāh, inspire others in their journey toward Islam.
Alhamdulillah, a special shoutout to the sister who accepted Islam that day. Being Latina, she was able to relate to my story, and I truly hope that both the university community and the masjid continue to support her—especially as the month of Ramadan approaches and she takes her next steps in practicing Islam.

Alhamdulillah, she took her shahādah that day. May Allah make it easy for her and for all of us, and may He reward everyone involved for their efforts.

Alhamdulillah, I have been studying Hadith and Arabic with my teacher, and I am truly grateful. When we first began, I could barely recognize the Arabic letters, and I still remember when he asked me to repeat a hadith from memory—I told him I couldn’t. Now, by Allah’s grace, I am translating hadiths into both English and Spanish and able to repeat them from memory after just a few readings.

By Allah’s favor, I also received an ijazah, which is something I never imagined at the beginning of this journey. My teacher does an excellent job, and his explanations and guidance throughout the learning process have been invaluable. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn Arabic, the Qur’an, or Hadith.

Alhamdulillah, the Arabic in Spanish program was presented by sister Aminah from Mexico, from August through December. Aminah was one of my students in my very first program, and she is currently studying Islam. It brings me great joy to see how this program is expanding to reach more people and make learning easier.

Six students from Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Jordan, and Venezuela completed the program, starting from zero and reaching the point of reading Surah Al-Fātiḥah.

I was also in tears when a sister from Colombia decided to take the shahada, and when a brother from Mexico shared his happiness at being able to read the Qur’an in Arabic, something that had been a lifelong dream for him at nearly 60 years old.

Sister Aminah is currently teaching an intensive course to prepare brothers and sisters, and brother Raúl is halfway through a program with more than 80 students around the world. We ask Allah to make it easy and to place barakah in this effort.

Alhamdulillah, el programa de Árabe En Español fue presentado por la hermana Aminah desde México, desde agosto hasta diciembre. Aminah fue una de mis estudiantes en mi primer programa y actualmente está estudiando sobre el Islam. Me da muchísima alegría ver cómo este programa está expandiéndose para llegar a más personas y facilitar el aprendizaje.

Seis alumnos de México, Colombia, Argentina, Perú, Jordania y Venezuela completaron el programa, comenzando desde cero y logrando leer la surah Al-Fātiḥah.

También estuve en lágrimas cuando una hermana de Colombia decidió hacer la shahada, y cuando un hermano de México nos expresó su felicidad por poder leer el Corán en árabe, algo que había sido su sueño a sus casi 60 años.

La hermana Aminah actualmente está enseñando un curso intensivo para preparar a los hermanos y hermanas, y el hermano Raúl va a mitad de programa con más de 80 estudiantes alrededor del mundo. Le pedimos a Allah que nos facilite y nos ayude.

Alhamdulillah, what beautiful and uplifting news. Two of my students, one in Mexico and one in El Salvador, are delivering khutbas. This is truly remarkable. While it may be common in many Muslim communities to see youth step forward, this is happening in Latin America, where Islam has long been present but is now taking deeper root. We are witnessing members of the indigenous community, converts to Islam, and first and second generation Muslims rising as leaders, carrying the message and delivering it in the Spanish language to their people.

This is a tremendous blessing from Allah subhanahu wa ta‘ala. I ask Allah to protect them and to protect us, to guide them and to guide us, and to guide our families and friends, those we love so dearly, upon the straight path.
