Here's my late contribution to Neil's day. A pixel version I made in Aseprite over the course of about 2 hours with the second image next to it for reference while I made it.
I do not quite know where the reference image originated, and thus cannot properly give a source. Help would be appreciated there.
YouTube destroyed the quality, so I'll upsize the image to counteract that if anyone wants me to. The second image should be a bit clearer. This is a recreation of a cute beetle I saw hiding in the rubber of the car window whilst being driven somewhere. Bonus points if you can guess where the landscape is based on, and what species I tried to include. I did end up taking some creative liberties from the reference. No idea what species the beetle is, and the recreation beetle probably isn't accurate to go off of.
The animation is a summoning of the Torch of Alturris, which is the name of the weapon I was trying to design in the still image. Click for the full image might help them have better quality. Or I could make a larger image if needed
