Both belated, but Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all our viewers! And… Thank you for 170 subscribers! Every one of you is appreciated, and I love that people enjoy my content so much.

Pumpkin has been having some fun over the holidays. Going on road trips, eating new foods, meeting new people… very eventful! She’s learned to love wrestling with me and “surfing” on my shoulders. The longer I have her, the more her personality shines through! Such a blessing. I’ve learned her happy noises versus her annoyed ones, I’ve learned which foods she prefers, and I’ve learned so much more about parrots as a whole! Every day I learn something new.

I keep meaning to make some long-form educational videos, but it gets delayed over and over again. I suffer from chronic illness, with multiple conditions/symptoms complicating my day. Most of the time lately, I’ve only been able to focus my time solely on Pumpkin rather than taking pics/vids & putting together content. So, I say expect educational videos “soon”, but I don’t really know when “soon” is… Could you all leave some suggestions on topics I should cover? I’d love hearing feedback from you all! My goal is to both entertain, AND educate my audience about parrot care + advocate for their needs.

Here are some cute pictures of Pumpkin I’ve gathered! In the last one, do you see her sitting on my arm with stuff all over my sweater? Well… Pumpkin apparently gets really carsick, which I usually manage by covering her carrier completely, but this particular trip was running longer than expected and she got fussy & wanted out. So, the stuff you see… is her vomit. It was pretty stinky! Sort of a fruity smell, but not a good fruity smell. Poor thing! Anyways…

[🎃] Pumpkin, the white-bellied caique

As promised, here’s a proper introduction. Meet Pumpkin! She is a DNA confirmed female and was hatched on March 6th, 2025. We clicked almost instantly when we met. I actually met her not too long before Blueberry passed away, as the store where she came from is a place I like to visit often anyways. Such a coincidence that the bird I adopt next also happens to be named after a berry!
I think it’s funny though, if Blueberry were to ever meet Pumpkin, they would NOT get along. Their personalities are so strikingly different, it’s insane! Pumpkin is very outgoing and curious, always wanting to explore her surroundings. She loves to cuddle and wrestle, which of course is characteristic of caiques in general, but she definitely takes it to a whole new level. Pumpkin is such a sweetheart, and I can’t wait to see what adventures come our way! 🧡💛💚🤍

The name "Blueberry's Journey" is no longer fitting as a channel name, since Blueberry is no longer alive. I was wondering if you all had any suggestions for a new name! Obviously her name (🎃) will have to be included, but if you have any ideas, please tell me!

September 2nd, 2025… Blueberry was euthanized. After trying to manage her seizures for so long with no success, they suddenly spiked in frequency, damaging her brain to the point where her quality of life was none.

I never thought I’d have to deal with her death so soon, but of course, ABV/PDD is unpredictable. I’m so glad I got to have time with her, even if it wasn’t very long. Blueberry was the best bird I could’ve ever asked for. Rest peacefully, my good baby girl bird, Blueberry. 🫐

Today marks 3 years of having Blueberry home with me! She looks so small in these pictures… but she’s much bigger and gets more amazing with every passing day! Hoping for many wonderful years to come with my happy bird right by my side.

Blueberry is officially 3 years old! I’m in the process of making a birthday celebratory video, as well as a health update. Lots has gone on with that, which is why I haven’t posted much lately. She’s doing well overall though. Thank you all for the interactions on our posts! More uploads are to come throughout the rest of this month. :)

P.S., No, she did not want to pose in those pictures. She wanted to be by the iPad, ONLY on her terms. Unfortunately, I violated those terms and made her grumpy. It may not look like it, but she’s excited to welcome her new subscribers :) 🫐

Haven’t been on the channel in a while, as you can tell. Blueberry is doing great! Officially 2 and 1/2 years old as of this November. Despite having her home for more than 2 years now, I’m learning more about her every day! Something I noticed recently: She’s very avoidant of head preening most of the time. When I try and preen her, she will turn and try to grab my hand. But it’s not that she doesn’t want to be preened… She just wants to preen me too! Not my hair, but in between my fingers. So now, we take turns preening each other. Awesome!

I actually discovered her sex back in the summer, but haven’t had the chance to post about it. We’ve always used female pronouns for her… but will that change? Check out the short I made revealing her gender once and for all! :)
