You wouldn't go to a "perform your own heart surgery" masterclass from someone who claimed to have been a world class heart surgeon but never in a professional setting. Yet you often see (especially among black Americans) people allowing unproven personal anecdotes to sway them into giving up their money (which is how the course sellers make the money to appear successful)
