But let me say this… if you’re a photographer and you’re not absolutely fired up about being able to be out and take photos then it’s time for a gut check. Remember back to the person who would give anything to be out snapping shots.

Conditions not as good as you thought? It’s frustrating and possibly disappointing at times. But remember, you’re in front of something amazing and you are more rich because you saw it with your own eyes. Make the best of it my friends!

Don't pack your gear up just because it's raining. While visiting the black sand beach of Vik, I got creative with the moody weather.

It goes to show how important it is to have gear that can withstand the elements. That's always the first thing I look for whenever I'm buying a new camera or lens. Remember, the worst weather is your biggest advantage for your photography.

Iceland waterfalls are truly insane. Having been to so many waterfalls all across the globe, these take the cake.

There’s nothing quite like pulling up to an overlook in a vast mountain range and photographing a huge scene.

But coming in a close second is pulling out a telephone photo lens and finding all the small detail details that make a huge place so beautiful.

When you’re able to get over the initial shock of seeing a new place, take some time to see the little things. Because much like life, noticing the little things in photography makes every day special.

“I want to see the puffins.“ That was my daughter‘s response when I asked her what was the one thing she wanted to do in Iceland.

Obviously, we were going to try our hardest to make this a reality. But with wildlife, there’s no promise, only unpredictability.

As we started walking towards the cliffs, we saw tiny dots that were flying around. The elation on her face while she ran with her binoculars around her neck was the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen!

While I would much rather photograph landscapes than wildlife, our evening photographing puffins quickly became my most memorable event of our trip.
