Last night we shook our fists at the weather gods and decided the show must go on at Edwardo's! Luckily, we stayed mostly dry! Great seeing family, so many old friends, and even made some new ones. The extra special treat of the night, seeing the best "band mom" and middle school principal ever, Joyce Doyle! Much fun was had by all!

Rock n' Roll Business Lessons w/ Dr. C: When Marketing Needs More Anarchy! 🤘

Forget polite campaigns. If you want to understand Guerrilla Marketing's raw power, look at the Sex Pistols. Their entire career was a masterclass in Guerrilla Marketing, making a hell of a noise and forcing everyone to pay attention.

Remember "God Save the Queen"? The song was pure, unfiltered expression. But its collision with a major cultural event (the Queen's Silver Jubilee) created an explosion of controversy and attention that no planned marketing budget could buy. That's the unpredictable beauty (and danger) of guerrilla marketing campaign gone viral!

▪️ Authentic Disruption: Their abrasive honesty and anti-establishment lyrics resonated (and repulsed) deeply, forcing a national conversation.
▪️ Maximum Impact, Minimal Spend (Relatively): While not a "ploy" in the traditional sense for the Jubilee, the effect was pure gold—widespread media coverage, cultural notoriety, and a brand forged in defiance.
▪️ Understanding the Climate: They instinctively (or accidentally) tapped into societal undercurrents, and the establishment's reaction amplified their message a thousandfold.

The Business Takeaway: Is your brand saying something real? Is it authentic enough to potentially spark a strong reaction or tap into a cultural nerve? Guerrilla marketing usually gets chalked up to planned stunts or flash mobs. But at its core, it's about disruption and a powerful message hitting the right (or wrong, depending on your perspective) spot at the right time. Be bold so people can't ignore you.

What brand or message has recently cut through the noise for you with its sheer authenticity or unexpected timing? 👇

Rock n' Roll Business Lessons w/ Dr. C: Pink Floyd & The Art of the Unforgettable Brand Narrative

What do a shattered wall, a broken prism, and a desert handshake have in common? They’re all chapters in your brand’s story.

Your brand narrative is much more than your catchy slogan. It’s the tension you overcome, the vision you reveal, and the connection you forge. Think of The Wall’s isolation, Dark Side’s spectrum of emotion, and Wish You Were Here’s ache of absence. These albums were total experiences based from powerful story arcs building song to song.

Want to build a narrative that resonates like a Floyd epic?
➡️ Start with conflict: What’s holding your audience back? What’s the societal "wall" they're facing?
➡️ Add a burst of color (or a prism): How do you transform their world or shift their perspective?
➡️ Show the payoff (the handshake): Where do you meet them with understanding, solutions, and connection?

Skip the vague mission statements. Tell a story that matters. Show why your brand exists. And most importantly, make people feel something!

How are you crafting your brand narrative? Share your story (or your favorite Floyd-level brand story) below! 👇

We had a great hosting Sam and Colby and the Project FEAR teams for dinner and a trip to Bobby Mackey. Their video premiered today. Sadly, my interview ended up on the cutting room floor, but still had a lot of fun with them.
