I'm Tom, a realistic coloured pencil artist based in the UK 🇬🇧
I taught myself how to draw back in 2020 and have since made 100s of realistic pencil drawings of animals, cars, people and LEGO! ✏️

Been procrastinating about doing this for a while...
...was really unsure about what background to add to this piece and I was quite aware that I could very easily ruin 8 hours worth of sketching!
Recently had the idea of a green smoky background so got my airbrush and began spraying...
I've still got the foreground to do as I want to have the smoke wrapping around the front of the car once it's coloured in!
Going to be powering through the coloured pencil and marker part now!

Polychromos or Luminance pencils?
I put these 2 extremely popular coloured pencil brands againast one another and was pretty suprised with what I found...
If you're planning on getting either of these pencils, I'd watch this 1st: https://youtu.be/cLQylyPE4_o

I'm comparing Faber Castell Polychromos to Caran D'ache Luminance...
This is the Polychromos side (felt as though this beetle was a good subject for this experiment as it involves every colour in each set!)
Going to be doing the Luminance side today...
Video will be out tomorrow (Sat 19th July at 3:00pm)

My drawing of @MatArmstrongbmx's Lamborghini Murcielago!
This drawing is unlike anything I've drawn before and I don't think I've ever encountered so many problems on one drawing 😅

Something a bit different 😉
I drew Jeremy Clarkson‘s Lamborghini tractor 🚜
Challenged myself to draw it in just 3 days (I succeeded - drew for an average of 12 hours a day for 3 days straight ⏰)
Now I’ve never drawn a tractor before and there was one BIG problem…
TYRES! 🛞
These tyres were an absolute nightmare…more specifically the treads…
Each one had to curve in a very specific way or else it would just look weird!
PLUS, I couldn’t find a good quality reference photo of the tractor anywhere…
…so I ended up pausing an episode of Clarkson’s Farm and taking a photo of the computer screen 📸
(As Prime doesn’t allow you to screenshot their shows 🤦♂️)
Safe to say that lots of “artistic interpretation” was used for this drawing :)
FULL video of the process will be out tomorrow

My drawing of the LEGO RedBull F1 car! 🐂
This piece took 36 hours over 3 days (that’s 12 hours a day of solid drawing 😳)
It is done using:
- Strathmore Bristol smooth
- Ohuhu Honolulu markers
- Faber Castell Polychromos

I wanted to try a simple experiment to prove the power of using markers and coloured pencils together!
To do this, I drew a LEGO clown where on one side I only used pencils and on the other I used pencils on top of a marker base...
I hope by the photo down below you can see the "marker" side has much deeper and more intense colours!
This is due to the markers flooding all the white paper fibres so there are no longer any white speckles to tint the pencil layer!
An added bonus too is that the marker side took over an hour less as I didn't have to spend so long layering to achieve a solid coverage.
