RE: USS Benfold blows out its Generators during High Speed Shadowing of China’s Type 055 Destroyer Zunyi in the SCS

Zhang Jun, a Captain of the Type 055 Destroyer Zunyi (107) of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) recently said during an Interview with the China Central Television (CCTV) Channel that a Foreign Warship lost Power while tracking their Ship.

He said that they were conducting a Routine Training Exercise when a Foreign Warship began tracking them. So they increased their Speed and the other Ship tried to follow, but after half an hour of this, the Foreign Warship lost all of its Power and Electricity and stopped.

The Navigation Lights turned off and the Radar of the Foreign Warship also stopped transmitting at this Point. Zhang did not mention the name of the Ship nor indicate its Nationality, and neither did he mention where the Incident occurred.

However, it was widely reported several Months ago about how the USS Benfold (DDG-65) Arleigh Burke class Destroyer of the United States Navy (USN) back in July of this Year lost Power and was stranded for four Days in the South China Sea (SCS) due to a Generator Outage.

The Ship ended up without Water, Gallery Services, Toilets and Airconditioning during that time. The USN then refused to give Details about the Cause of the Generator Outage. The USS Benfold was eventually towed to Subic Bay in the Philippines for Repairs, which took around two Weeks to be completed.

MY THOUGHTS:
A pretty embarrassing Incident for the USN, but sort of understandable since the USS Benfold was commissioned in 1996 or three Decades ago while the Zunyi is a much newer Ship and was only commissioned in 2022, or four Years ago.

That 26 Year difference between the two Ships showed as the USS Benfold was unable to keep up with the much younger Zunyi. Now the USN will be forced to send newer Ships to shadow China's newest Vessels, or at the very least change their Engagement Protocols.

The American Organization "Pew Research Center" in their "2026 Global Attitudes Survey" reported recently that younger Filipinos have more favorable Views of China and Chinese President Xi Jinping than older ones, despite the ongoing Territorial Disputes between the Philippines and China.

Their Survey said that almost half or 47% of Filipinos aged 18 to 34 Years old have a more favorable View of China, same with those aged 35 to 49 Years old which was at 44%. This is in contrast with the 50 and older Category which was at only 27%.

And even more Filipinos like Xi Jinping, which was at 61% for ages 18 to 34, and 55% for those aged 35 to 49. On the other Hand, only 32% liked Xi for those who are 50 and older. The Survey was conducted from February 28 to March 31 of this Year of 2026 for a Sample Size of around 1,003 Filipinos who were 18 Years old and older.

RE: Vietnam acquiring 10 Bullet Trains from German Company Siemens worth $1.14 billion for two of its Railway Lines

Announced at a recent International Transport Trade Fair in Germany that the German Company "Siemens Mobility" will be supplying 10 High Speed or Bullet Trains to the Vietnamese Company "VinSpeed" worth $1.14 billion.

The Train Sets will the "Velaro Novo" Models and will be used on two of Vietnam's Railway Lines, the 121 kim long Hanoi to Quang Ninh Line and the 54 km Ben Thanh to Can Gio Line. Aside from the Trainsets, Siemens will also provide the Signaling, Electrification and Communication Systems for those two Lines.

The Velaro Novo Trainsets have a maximum speed of 350 kph, has 7 Traincars which has a total length of 200 m which can carry up to 760 Passengers. It has an Automatic Train Operation (ATO) of Level 2 based on the European Train Control System (ETCS) Standard.

The Social Media News Website "Reddit" in the latest "Transparency Report" that they released for the Period of July to December 2025 revealed that the Philippines ranked fourth among the Countries that filed the most Removal Requests of their Content.

The National Bureau of Investigations (NBI) and Philippine National Police (PNP) filed a total of 12 Removal Requests for that particular Period for 74 pieces of Content which were allegedly defaming Politicians and Public Figures.

However, Reddit subsequently did not remove any of those Content as they found that none of them violated their Rules for Content involving the Criticism of Public Figures or Claims of their involvement in Corruption.

Japanese Companies to make High Technology Products with latest Investments to Thailand
The Board of Investment of Thailand recently reported that Japanese Investments into their Country is moving generally from Conventional Low-Cost Goods to higher-value Products such as Automation, Robotics, Clean Energy and Digital Technology.

Last Year in 2025, Japanese Investors applied for a total of 302 Projects worth $3.4 billion, of which $880 million are for Automotive Projects and their Parts, $580 million are for Electronics and only $120 million are for Agriculture and Food.

On the Automotive Side, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation will build the Pajero Model which is making a comeback in Thailand, while Honda Thailand will be the only Country outside of Japan which will build up to eight different Models of their Vehicles.

Isuzu is upgrading their Plant in Thailand to install Robotics, Automation and Clean Energy. Another Japanese Company, NMB-Minebea will be making Precision Aircraft Parts for Airbus and Boeing at their new Factory in Lopburi.
