RE: Philippine Peso for the first time falls down a record-low ₱62 per Dollar, this happening under the BBM Administration

For the first time in its entire History as a Republic, the Currency of the Philippines, the Philippine Peso broke through the ₱62 per United States (US) Dollar mark recently, and this happened under the current Administration of Bong Bong Marcos (BBM).

The Peso fell down to as low as ₱62.25, even lower than the ₱61.995 earlier this Month of August of 2026. The lower Value of the Peso is now threatening to increase further the Country's Trade Deficit as it imports almost all of its Oil needs.

The Peso's decline was traced to the Philippines' larger than expected Trade Deficit and higher Oil Prices. The Trade Deficit for July 2026 was at $5.97 billion, which was higher than the $5.15 billion that the Economists had previously estimated it was going to be before.

This recent Decline also makes the Peso one of the worst-performing Currencies in the entire Asian Region. Note that the Peso never went down this low even during the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Pandemic that happened in the Administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

RE: Another International Institution, the Singapore-based AMRO revises its Growth Forecast for the Philippine Economy down to 3.4%

Just another in the long line of Institutions that are revising down their forecast of the Growth of the Philippine Economy or Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for this Year of 2026, this time it is the Singapore-based International Institution called "ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO)" which revised its forecast downt to only 3.4%

This is only around half of the Philippine Government's initial Forecast of 6%. Last July 2026, AMRO previously forecasted it would around 4.1%. AMRO said that their lower forecast is due to weaker Private Household Consumption, higher Inflation and lower Investments into the Country.

RE: Philippines once taught Vietnam how to build Economic Zones, but now Vietnam has already surpassed them Economically

The Philippines back in the 1990s was seen as a Regional Model for attracting Export-oriented Manufacturing, and even helped Vietnam in Terms of developing specialized Economic Areas or Zones. But now, more than three Decades later, Vietnam has already overtaken the Philippines as a Manufacturing Hub, with Filipino Workers and Managers among those helping operate its Factories.

The Philippines still imports a lot more goods than it exports, importing approximately four Containers worth of Goods for each and every Container it exports. This makes the Country heavily dependent on Foreign Products, Capital and Energy.

RE: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim cites US & Philippine Military Bases in Balabac Island as a major Security Issue for Sabah

No less than the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, recently highlighted as a major Security Issue the development of a major Military Base by the Philippines and the United States (US) on Balabac Island.

The Island is only 20 minutes away from Malaysia's own Banggi Island, and also near Sabah, which is currently under Malaysian Territory but also has been claimed by the Philippines before.

Due to this, Anwar said there is a need to strengthen the Malaysian Armed Forces' Defence Capabilities in Sabah, although he says they don't have the Resources to develop the Military and Air Bases there to the same Scale or Level as that of on Balabac Island.

RE: Malaysia’s Economy grew by 6% from April to June 2026, compared to only 2.3% for the Philippines

The Central Bank of Malaysia, called the "Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)" recently reported that their Country's Economy or Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 6% in the second Quarter of this Year of 2026, or from April to June.

The Bank said this is due to the steady Growth in Household Income among Malaysians, while Investments continued to grow due to the continued spending on Infrastructure, Machinery and Equipment. Exports for Electronics, Services, Liquefied Natural Gas and Manufacturing Products also showed steady growth.

Inflation in the same Period increased, but only very slightly to 1.9% compared to 1.6% in first Quarter, and much lower than the 2.1% in the fourth Quarter of last Year of 2025.

In contrast, the Philippine Economy only grew by almost a third that of Malaysia's at 2.3% for the same Period, while the Philippines' Inflation Rate grew by more than twice at 4.8%.
