One train. No changes. Brussels to Amsterdam.

That was the plan.

Then I entered Brussels-Midi and saw one rather worrying word beside my Eurocity Direct: “LIMITED.”

The train would terminate at Breda. One direct journey became three trains, two changes, a considerable detour across the Netherlands and an arrival at Amsterdam Centraal instead of Amsterdam Zuid.

Was this reasonable disruption management, or an unacceptable way to treat passengers?

Three trains. Two changes. A substantial detour through the Netherlands… and not even the Amsterdam station originally planned.

After a short break, Worldwide P. returns this Thursday, August 6, with a journey from Brussels to Amsterdam that became far more complicated than expected.

Will this increasingly strange journey actually work?

Hi all!

A quick channel update: there won’t be a new video this week or next. After a very eventful trip, the Worldwide P. Operations Department needs a short summer pause to work through all the footage. 😄

Weekly videos return on Thursday, August 6 and there is quite a lot ahead: new trains, older trains, delays, diversions, a three-part Slovak adventure, a journey back to the late 1970s and one rather chaotic trip to Amsterdam.

This week we travel from Namur to Brussels-Midi aboard one of Belgium’s most distinctive InterCity trains: the AM96.

Yes, the one with the strange rubber face.

It is a short trip, but there is plenty to see: Namur as a railway junction, the direct line to Brussels, Gembloux, a First Class seat tour, a little look at the AM96 itself, and then a surprisingly interesting approach into Brussels, circling the city through the north before entering the famous North-South Connection.

So… is this 1990s Belgian InterCity train still good today?

This week we travel from Belfast Grand Central to Dublin Connolly aboard the Enterprise, Ireland’s cross-border train linking Belfast and Dublin.

One island. Two capitals. One train.

This is a service with history, symbolism, onboard food, Enterprise Plus seating, a classic locomotive-hauled Enterprise set, and even a few quirks along the way... including one that meant I could not properly show Standard Class on this trip.

As usual, expect train travel, a bit of history and technology, and a proper look at what the journey is really like.

Hi all! 👋

My very eventful trip has finally come to an end... and I have a lot to show you over the coming weeks and months! 🚆

Here's a little taste of what's on the way:

🚆 Brand-new trains and classic railway icons.
🚆 A three-part mini-series following my adventures in Slovakia.
🚆 A journey back to the late 1970s aboard one of France's legendary Corail trains.
🚆 Delays, diversions, unexpected adventures, and plenty of stories that definitely didn't go according to plan!

Together we'll travel through Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Czechia, Slovakia, Austria, Italy, France, and Spain, discovering some fascinating railways along the way.

And, as always, every journey will come with a little bit of history and technology. 😊

One small note: during the summer there may be the occasional week without a new video while I work through all this footage. But don't worry: everything I've filmed will make its way onto the channel. There's a lot to edit, and I'm looking forward to sharing every bit of it with you!

Hi all! 👋

I'm currently at Marseille Saint-Charles, waiting to board a classic Corail train to Bordeaux Saint-Jean. 🇫🇷🚆

This is a journey I've been looking forward to for quite some time. Introduced in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Corail coaches revolutionised rail travel in France with a level of comfort that was simply unrivalled at the time.

There's just one small problem... 😅

My train is already running 1 hour and 40 minutes late, and I'm not entirely convinced that's where the delay will end!

This trip is certainly becoming one for the memory books...

Let's see what happens next!

Hi all! 👋

I'm currently on board RJ 273, travelling from Prague to Štúrovo, where I was hoping to catch a very cool train to feature on the channel.

Unfortunately... as things stand right now, that probably isn't going to happen. 😅

The journey had been going perfectly, running on time all the way, but we're now stopped at the small station of Bernolákovo, just outside Bratislava, because of catenary problems.

The latest information is that we'll head back to Bratislava before being diverted via Galanta. Now it's a matter of seeing how late we'll eventually arrive in Štúrovo... and whether I'll still make my connection.

This is now the third major incident in just three days of this trip. Clearly, this journey has decided to keep me on my toes! 😄

Let's see what happens next...

Well... I said not every journey goes according to plan, and here we are! 😅

My trip from Namur to Brussels on the AM96 was absolutely perfect. But the next leg, from Brussels to Amsterdam, was a completely different story.

What was supposed to be a straightforward journey on the Eurocity Direct turned into a three-train odyssey, with unexpected changes in Breda and 's-Hertogenbosch!

I was caught in the middle of this incident:

So my supposedly simple trip became much more adventurous than I had planned... but that's part of travelling by train, isn't it? 🚆

The good news? I filmed everything, so you'll get to experience the whole adventure with me.

Hi all! 👋

Today I travelled from Namur to Brussels on one of Belgium's iconic AM96 trainsets. 🇧🇪🚆

Comfortable seats, a smooth ride along the Meuse Valley and through the Belgian countryside, and another classic European train ticked off the list. Sometimes it's the everyday journeys that end up being the most enjoyable.

This one was definitely a pleasant experience... 😊

But not every trip goes according to plan... Stay tuned for my next post! 👀
