Miracles of Jesus

Easter Sunday Prayer.

Risen Lord Jesus,
on this glorious Easter day,
I rejoice in Your victory over sin and death.

Thank You for Your great love,
for Your sacrifice on the Cross,
and for the gift of new life through Your Resurrection.

Fill my heart with joy and hope,
and renew my faith in You.
Help me to rise from my sins
and walk in the light of Your truth.

Lord, let Your Resurrection transform my life.
Give me the strength to follow You faithfully,
to love others as You have loved me,
and to be a witness of Your mercy and grace.

May Your peace fill my heart,
Your light guide my path,
and Your love remain with me always.
Alleluia! You are risen indeed!
Amen.

Miracles of Jesus

Good Friday.
2026 April 3rd

On Good Friday, we commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. This is traditionally a day spent in fasting and prayer and an obligatory day of fasting and abstinence.

According to the Church's ancient tradition, the sacraments are not celebrated on Good Friday nor Holy Saturday. No Mass is celebrated on this day, but the service of Good Friday is called the Mass of the Presanctified because Communion (in the species of bread) which had already been consecrated on Holy Thursday is given to the people.

The altar is completely bare, with no clothes, candles nor cross. The desolate quality of the rites of this day reminds us of Christ's humiliation and suffering during his Passion.

The major Good Friday worship services begin in the afternoon at 3:00 PM (the time Jesus is said to have died). We can see that the parts of the Good Friday service correspond to the divisions of Mass:

(1) Liturgy of the Word - reading of the Passion and Intercessory prayers for the Church and the entire world, Christian and non-Christian.

(2) Veneration of the Cross

(3) Communion, or the 'Mass of the Pre-Sanctified.'

In part one, the Liturgy of the Word, we hear the most famous of the Suffering Servant passages from Isaiah (52:13-53:12), a prefigurement of Christ on Good Friday. Psalm 30 is the Responsorial Psalm "Father, I put my life in your hands." The Second Reading, or Epistle, is from the letter to the Hebrews, 4:14-16; 5:7-9. The Gospel Reading is the Passion of St. John. The General Intercessions(covering 10 areas) conclude the Liturgy of the Word.

Part two is the Veneration of the Cross. A cross, either veiled or unveiled, is processed through the Church, and then venerated by the congregation. We joyfully venerate and kiss the wooden cross "on which hung the Savior of the world."

Part three, Holy Communion, concludes the Celebration of the Lord's Passion. The altar is covered with a cloth and the ciboriums containing the Blessed Sacrament are brought to the altar from the place of reposition.

The congregation receives Holy Communion, there is a "Prayer After Communion," and everyone departs in silence.

Many Churches also offer the Stations of the Cross, also called the "Way of the Cross," on Good Friday. This is a devotion in which fourteen events surrounding the death of Jesus are commemorated.

This day commemorates not just a historical event but the sacrificial death of Christ, which along with the resurrection, comprises the heart of the Christian faith.

'Justification has been merited for us by the Passion of Christ who offered himself on the cross as a living victim, holy and pleasing to God, and whose blood has become the instrument of atonement for the sins of all men.
