I have some pretty good news regarding the development of Bowsers Castle!

I've started working on the level a bit again after a break, and I have some ideas on how to make the level even better using 2.2 features.

In the long run I definitely believe that 2.2 dropping was a great thing for the level as it unlocks a lot of new potential, without making what was already made any less valueable.

We will officially start working on the level with Blueskii's team sometime in October most likely.

About the status of Bowsers Castle:

There are some problems with 2.2 slowing down the progress of the level. Two of the four parts are impossible to open now, and megahack doesn't work anymore, which means I can't use speedhack, hitboxes, or startpos switcher, among other tools. I might continue building on a 2.1 GDPS if possible until the problems are fixed.

Worst case scenario it could be as late as Feb 2024, but I hope it's earlier.


On a side note I'm gonna ask what you think should be done with the level in regards to 2.2

I'm wondering if I should use some 2.2 features such as SFX, camera controls and shader effects to make some small improvements to the level, or keeping it to 2.1 deco (although increased group numbers will need to be used no matter what).

Some sound effects will be added in the shape of a NONG edit by Blueskii no matter what though.

I'm also considering making a ULDM using 2.2 pixel blocks to simulate the feel of the level with less objects.
