ಬಸವಣ್ಣನವರ ಕಾಲದ ವಚನ ಚಳುವಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಸಂಖ್ಯಾತ ವಚನಕಾರರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಕೇವಲ ಅವರು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೇ, ಅನೇಕ ವಚನಕಾರ್ತಿಯರು ಕೂಡ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಪಾತ್ರ ನಿಭಾಯಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ‘ಕಾಯಕ’ದ ಮೂಲಕವೇ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟವಾದ ವಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನೇಕಾರ, ಜಾಡಮಾಲಿ, ಆಯ್ದಕ್ಕಿ, ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ತರುವುದು ಹೀಗೆ ವೃತ್ತಿಗಳೇ ವಚನಗಳಿಗೆ ಶಕ್ತಿಯೂ, ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ ಕೆಲವು ವಚನಕಾರ್ತಿಯರ ವಚನಗಳು.

When we think of the Vachana movement, Basavanna is often the first name that comes to mind. But the movement was also shaped by many remarkable women Vachanakaras.
What makes their work especially interesting is how closely it came from everyday life. Weaving, collecting grain, bringing firewood, cleaning — their kayaka, or work, became the inspiration for their Vachanas.

ಭಾರತದ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಸೇನಾನಿ ಹಾಗೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಾದ ಎಚ್. ಎಸ್. ದೊರೆಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಅವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಿಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾ? ಗಾಂಧಿವಾದಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಇವರು ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ ಅವರ ಒಂದು ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಪ್ರಭಾವದಿಂದಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಚಳುವಳಿಗೆ ಧುಮುಕಿದರು. ಕ್ವಿಟ್ ಇಂಡಿಯಾ ಚಳುವಳಿ, ಮೈಸೂರು ಚಲೋ ಚಳುವಳಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವಾರು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಹೋರಾಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿದ್ದವರು. ರಾಮನಗರದ ಹಾರೋಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಇವರು 104 ವರ್ಷ ಬದುಕಿದರು. ಭಾರತ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಕೊನೆಯ ಕೊಂಡಿ ಎಚ್. ಎಸ್. ದೊರೆಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಈ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ದಿನದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಮರಿಸೋಣ.

Do you know about H. S. Doreswamy, one of Karnataka’s most remarkable freedom fighters?
A committed Gandhian, he was inspired by Gandhi’s writings to join India’s freedom struggle. He went on to take part in the Quit India Movement, the Mysore Chalo Movement, and several other social movements through his life.
Born in Harohalli, Ramanagara, Doreswamy lived to the age of 104 and remained one of Karnataka’s last living links to the freedom movement.
This Independence Day, we remember H. S. Doreswamy and a life spent standing up for freedom, justice and people.

Dr. Rajkumar and Narasimharaju were one of the most memorable and beloved on-screen combinations in Kannada cinema.
Their remarkable journey together began with Bedara Kannappa in 1954. Over the years, they went on to appear together in more than 100 films—a rare achievement that reflects not only their popularity but also the wonderful chemistry they shared on screen.
While Dr. Rajkumar captivated audiences as the leading man, Narasimharaju brought his unmistakable humour, expressions and comic timing to every scene. Whenever the two appeared together, audiences could expect memorable performances, laughter and complete entertainment.

It has been exactly 63 years today since celebrated Kannada novelist Triveni, born Anasuya Shankar, passed away. Yet her writing continues to live on in the hearts of Kannada readers.
She wrote 21 novels and three short-story collections, and nearly seven of her works were adapted into popular films.
