I will be switching to Aseprite from this point going forward for my sprite editing needs. Paintshop Pro has served me well throughout the years, but having the ability to animate sprites before exporting them is infinitely more useful and time efficient.
I started to draw myself a new PFP for Discord and ended up putting more effort into it than I should have. Feel free to write your own captions below.
Happy New Year, everyone. Hope 2025 is starting off well for all of you.
I'm now using this fresh year to finally try and make some positive changes and hopefully some significant progress on SMBZ. The shitpost I recently uploaded was just a warm up to get me accustomed with DaVinci Resolve, but I'm really hoping I can get back to animating full time. I'm not getting any younger and I want to at least see the Metallix saga finished some day.
I know I've said this numerous times in the past, so I won't blame you if you doubt me. Just know I want to see this series to its conclusion as badly as you all do. I appreciate everyones patience. Wish me luck.
Not sure how many animators pay attention to my community posts. But I'm wondering if anyone uses or recommends Adobe After Effects?
I'm still using some of the old tools I've had since I started the reboot almost a decade ago while simultaneously trying to wrap my head around DaVinci Resolve's less than intuitive interface.
So are there any benefits to the program or is Flash and Resolve all I need?
I have just learned that the creator of Final Fantasy Sonic X (Rob Lewis aka BlackDevilX) has sadly passed away. He was another juggernaut of the Newgrounds and Spriters community that undoubtedly shaped many peoples childhoods.
Rest in peace, Rob. May future sprite animators and game designers you helped inspire continue your legacy.
The character models in the new Mario & Luigi game are so good. I love how expressive and well animated they are. They are definitely a step up from the kinda uncanny valley 3D/sprite models they had in Dream Team onwards. (An unpopular opinion, I'm sure). I hope Acquire continues to make new entries in the future (if Sony doesn't screw Nintendo over).
What I would give to be able to make SMBZ with these models. A total pipe dream, I know...

What could the Mario Bros. be reacting to?
