The Sacred Heart Homestead

Mother of 6 šŸ¤ Homemaking šŸ¤Homesteading

Hi, I’m Justine …

I’m a homeschooling mother of 6 living in an old farmhouse on 15 acres in Ontario, Canada. On this channel I’ll be sharing everything traditional living from cooking, to tending to livestock, to gardening, to the everyday challenges of large family living on the farm.

I’d love for you to follow along!

The Sacred Heart Homestead

Hi friends, it’s been a couple months since I last posted anything and I’ve been struggling to post an update because I’ve been wanting to be forthcoming with my life while still maintaining some privacy. Although I want you all to know what’s been going on, I want to keep the details general until I feel I can speak of it freely.

Shortly after posting my last video, I ended up in the hospital due to some odd health issues. After many tests, we have figured out what the issue is but because of this I just have been very limited in what I am able to do every day. There’s been lots of tears, lots of prayers and lots of laying on the couch trying to surrender to God’s divine providence. The good news is my life is not in danger and this condition will pass but for the time being it feels really difficult. I’ve been blessed with overall good health and life has been pretty easy for me, so I have to say I was shocked when I found out that something was wrong and I couldn’t fix it with herbs or diet. This has been a very trying and humbling experience for me. My husband, my parents and my children have been a great source of physical help and support. My parish priest has blessed me and provided me with some spiritual encouragement, my friends have been praying for me and checking in on me. I am blessed to have a great team on my side.

Having said all of that, we really are still in the thick of it. Some days are better than others, but quite honestly because of all of this there has not been much homesteading content to speak of. So what does that mean for my channel? Well I’m not quitting but I do need to step back. I have some content that is just waiting to be edited and which I will release very soon. I’m hoping to slowly start popping back on over the next little while. I may not address the elephant in the room immediately but I do plan on covering this at some point when I feel like things are a little more resolved.

I want to thank you all for sticking around and for the sweet messages you have all been leaving me. I miss posting content, I miss this community and I’m hoping to be back in the near future. In the meantime, if you all could keep me and my family in your prayers, I would really appreciate it. Talk soon!

The Sacred Heart Homestead

Hello friends! To say this gardening season is off to a rough start would be an understatement. We have been battling birds eating all our seeds, dogs digging up entire garden beds and crops failing to germinate all together. I’ve decided to take a couple weeks off in order to focus my attention on replanting and also so I can fully focus on celebrating my sons first communion in the coming days. I’m hoping to have time to edit in the next few days and will hopefully have something ready for you next week!

On a side note, I’m looking for suggestions for video topics that you would like to see from me. It’s spring here so there is so much happening and so many things I could cover but I want to know what appeals to you! Let me know what you would like to see!

The Sacred Heart Homestead

This week’s new video will be released at 3PM EST today. I apologize for the delay, it was a really busy week/weekend for us and combined with babies not napping, I just did not have the time to edit any content. This week I’m focusing on budget recipes we love to eat during busy times of the year. I hope you enjoy! 😊

The Sacred Heart Homestead

This week’s new video will be a day or two late. This is our busiest time of the year and I’ve been trying to juggle the garden work, the housework and the extracurricular activities/homeschooling the kids. I’ve learned that when you have too many plates spinning, it’s important to let some drop and unfortunately YouTube had to take the backseat this week. Keep your eyes peeled for a new What We Eat In A Week in the coming days! ā˜ŗļø

Rural living has its perks but good internet isn't one of them. I've been trying to upload a new video for you all day but it's not looking like it will be ready any time today. I'm planning instead on releasing it first thing tomorrow morning around 8 AM EST. I hope you have a blessed night!
