Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, MVC (19 August 1941– 17 November 1962) was an Indian soldier and a posthumous recipient of the prestigious Maha Vir Chakra of which he was awarded for his actions of valor during the Battle of Nuranang in the Sino-Indian War. During the Battle of Nuranang on 17 November 1962 in the North-East Frontier Agency (now Arunachal Pradesh), the Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat was serving in the 4th battalion of 4th Garhwal Rifles regiment. On that day, the 4th Garhwal Rifles had beaten back two People's Liberation Army charges on their position. During a third intrusion, a Chinese medium machine gun (MMG) had come close to the Indian defenses and was firing accurately at their positions. Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, along with Lance Naik Trilok Singh Negi and Rifleman Gopal Singh Gusain volunteered to subdue the MMG. Rawat and Gusain, aided by covering fire from Negi closed within a grenade-throwing distance of the machine gun position and neutralized the Chinese detachment of five sentries, seizing the MMG in the process. However, while returning, Gusain and Negi lost their lives and Rawat was seriously injured, although he managed to return with the captured weapon. The battle resulted in 300 Chinese casualties, whereas the 4th Garhwal Rifles lost two men and had eight wounded.
Rawat's company eventually decided to fall back, but Rawat remained and kept up the fight with the help of two local Monpa girls named Sela and Nura (Noora). Later, Sela was killed and Noora captured. Rushing from position to position, Rawat held off the enemy for 72 hours until the Chinese captured a local supplier, who told them that they were facing only one fighter. The Chinese then stormed Rawat's position, but the exact details of his death are unclear. Some accounts claim that Rawat shot himself with his last round of ammunition; others state that he was taken prisoner and executed by the Chinese. The Chinese commander returned Rawat's severed head and a brass bust of him to India after the war was over. Sela Pass, Sela Tunnel and Sela Lake were named after Sela in commemoration of her actions.
राइफलमैन जसवंत सिंह रावत, एमवीसी (19 अगस्त 1941 - 17 नवंबर 1962) भारतीय थलसेना में के गढ़वाल राइफल्स में सेवारत सैनिक थे, जिन्हें 1962 के भारत-चीन युद्ध में अरुणाचल प्रदेश में नूरानांग की लड़ाई के दौरान उनके कार्यों के परिणामस्वरूप मरणोपरान्त प्रतिष्ठित महावीर चक्र से सम्मानित किया गया .

भारत चीन युद्ध के दौरान जसवंत सिंह रावत जी ने अकेले ही अपनी पोस्ट बदल-बदल कर चीनी सैनिकों इस भ्रम में रखा कि अभी भारत के काफी जवान वहां पर है जो कई जगहों से गोलियां चला रहे हैं।जसवंत सिंह ने सभी पोस्ट पर रायफल रख दी थी और पोस्ट बदल बदल कर कई जगहों से अकेले ही गोलियां चला रहे थे। इस तरह से उन्होंने अकेले ही लगभग 300 चीनी सैनिकों को मार गिराया । जब इस बात की जानकारी जसवंत सिंह को राशन पहुंचाने वाले को चीनी सैनिकों द्वारा पकड़े जाने पर चीनी कमांडर को पता चली तो वह बहुत क्रोधित हुआ और जसवंत सिंह की ओर चीनी सैनिक भेज दिए लेकिन तब तक जसवंत सिंह के पास कारतूस खत्म हो चुके थे। उन्होंने चीनी सैनिकों को अपनी तरफ आते देख खुद ही अपने गोली मार ली और वह वीरगति को प्राप्त हो गए।

जसवंत सिंह रावत पौड़ी गढ़वाल के मूल निवासी थे। जिस चौकी पर जसवंत सिंह ने आखिरी लड़ाई लड़ी थी उसका नाम अब जसवंतगढ़ रख दिया गया है और वहां उनकी याद में एक मंदिर बनाया गया है। मंदिर में उनसे जुड़ीं चीजों को आज भी सुरक्षित रखा गया है। पांच सैनिकों को उनके कमरे की देखरेख के लिए तैनात किया गया है। वे पांच सैनिक रात को उनका बिस्तर करते हैं, वर्दी प्रेस करते हैं और जूतों की पॉलिश तक करते है। सैनिक सुबह के 4.30 बजे उनके लिए बेड टी, 9 बजे नाश्ता और शाम में 7 बजे खाना कमरे में रख देते हैं.

As a Muslim, Usman became a symbol of India's inclusive secularism. At the time of the partition of India he with many other Muslim officers declined to move to the Pakistan Army and continued to serve with the Indian Army.He was killed in July 1948 while fighting Pakistani soldiers and militia in Jammu and Kashmir. Major Mohit Sharma AC, SM (13 January 1978 – 21 March 2009) was an Indian Army Officer who was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India's highest peace-time military decoration. Sharma was from the elite 1st Para SF.
On 21 March 2009, he engaged in an encounter with militants in the Hafruda forest of the Kupwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir. He killed four militants and rescued two teammates in the process, but got shot multiple times. For this act, he was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, which is the highest peace time military decoration in India. He was awarded two gallantry decorations earlier in his career. The first was the COAS Commendation card for exemplary counter-militancy duties during Operation Rakshak, which was followed by a Sena Medal for gallantry after a covert operation in 2005.💐🥀🇮🇳

He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military decoration, for his actions during the Kargil War.
