On August 30, 1992, Nirvana headlined the Reading Festival at Richfield Avenue in Reading, UK. This performance, documented on the album and DVD Nirvana: Live at Reading, is considered one of the band's greatest live shows, despite Kurt Cobain being ill with bronchitis and laryngitis at the time.

On August 21st, Nirvana performed at The Top Hat in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland in 1991, opening for Sonic Youth. This was the band's second show in Ireland, following a performance the previous night in Cork City. An attendee noted that Kurt Cobain screamed his way through "Sliver" during the show. Additionally, during soundcheck, Kurt played the drums at some point during the show.
