It almost feels like a spiritual sequel to Troy. The story begins after the fall of the kingdom of Troy and follows Odysseus on his extraordinary journey home.
Having some familiarity with Greek history and mythology definitely enriches the experience. I’ve watched several films based on Greek mythology and have also visited a few ancient temples in Greece, which made the world of the film even more immersive.
The film beautifully explores Odysseus’ guilt, the countless ordeals he endures, and his long-awaited homecoming after playing a pivotal role in winning the 10-year Trojan War.
For me, the two biggest highlights are the Trojan Horse episode and the emotionally satisfying climax.
The mythical creatures and daunting obstacles Odysseus encounters keep the narrative gripping throughout. Among them, the episode featuring Circe is particularly fascinating.
I’m planning to watch it again this Sunday - this time on the IMAX screen at PVR Priya, Delhi.
