Have you tried the EP-133? After spending more time with it, there are parts I really like, while some of the design choices just don’t mesh with my workflow… yet.
Going by the comments on my last video, it seems I’m not alone in having complicated feelings about this one.
I’ve found it’s almost the reverse of where I landed with the MPC, so for this week’s livestream we’re going to make a beat and walk through the good, bad and weird I’ve found while using it.

I’ve used a lot of samplers over the years, and while the MPC Sample definitely isn’t perfect, there’s one thing it still does better than almost anything I’ve tried.
It got me thinking about all the gear I’ve owned over the years. Sometimes a piece of gear gets one thing so fundamentally right that it’s worth keeping around, even if the rest of the workflow isn’t perfect.
Is there any gear like that for you?
On Sunday’s livestream, we’ll make a beat with the MPC Sample and talk about why I think this is one of those pieces of gear… along with a few areas where I think it misses the mark.
