TOKU is one of the musicians owner Kyoko Seki helped launch from this stage. Tsuyoshi Yamamoto, who recorded a live album in this room in 1995, is at the piano — a player the club calls second to none when it comes to swinging. With Shinobu Ishizaki (alto sax), Hiroshi Kagawa (bass) and Toshio Osumi (drums).

Voices of Hope 15. For fifteen editions, bassist Kengo Nakamura has gathered singers at this club for one night and given the takings away. Proceeds go to the Iwate Learning Hope Fund and the Miyagi Children's Scholarship Fund, paying for the education of children from the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. His aim is to keep going until every child born in the disaster area has come of age.

Ten Japanese vocalists, with Dennis Lambert ‪@DennisLambertPianist‬ on piano, Gene Jackson on drums, Nakamura and Yosuke Inoue on bass. A tribute to Kyoko Mama's love of vocal jazz, eighteen days before BODY&SOUL closes for good on 30 September. Oh! Jazz is donating its proceeds too.

Track 9 of 9. The record opened with a drummer's tune, and it closes with one.

"Funky Chu" — Uniquely 5, live at BODY&SOUL Tokyo, written by the band's drummer Yoshihito Eto. Not a standing group but a collective of five of Tokyo's most in-demand players, two saxophones out front: Kazuhiko Kondo alto, Wataru Hamazaki tenor and soprano, Yutaka Shiina piano, Yosuke Inoue bass, Eto drums.

That is the whole album: nine separate bands, one small room, fifty years of it. Live from BODY&SOUL - The Golden Jubilee is a limited 180g double LP and a tribute to Kyoko Seki. The gates close this year, and this is what stays.
