Belonging isn’t about just being invited into a room. It’s about feeling like the room changes a little for the better because you walked in.
Walt Brown talks about belonging in a different way than I am used to. actually, this book was NOT the one I planned on reading, I fact I accidentally clicked it. And figured, well... I'm already here let's give it a go.
You don’t have to fight to fit. You just have to be real enough that the right ones recognize you.
The right spaces won’t ask you to shrink. They’ll make room for your story, your growth, your voice. When people feel like they belong, they rise. They give more. They stay.
When they don’t, they start to fade, taking pieces of themselves that never got the chance to be seen.
Ahh yes, I love when books explain a thing I get stuck on.
We were watching building the band a few weeks ago (so freaking wholesome) and one of the groups were 'girl-ing out' idk how to describe it but, they in the moment were just vibing and squeeking and I told Kedrick see! That... idk how to do that. That girl thing.
Definitely not the purpose of this book but, it did help me understand the why.
Most people operate on their impulse, gut reaction, feel it kinda life for most of the time and only stop to really process and be methodical occasionally.
I struggle to do that, I tend to observe everything all of the time.... think about it to make sense of it before I just go with it and occasionally get into a space where I can just live in the moment - just livin and vibin.
Charisma - or the evil, scary kind 👀. Gets people to negate their thinking brain and go with impulse (manufactured to be what they want) and thats probably why it scares me so much and now I have trust issues. 😆
Anyway. This one deep dives into the two types of thinking. Impulse and analytical.
Framing is the key to life. How are we looking at a situation, what are we telling ourselves and others about it?
Could we present the information in a different way to encourage ourselves and others... instead of diminish ourselves and others?
Also, kedrick and I went into a meeting with a turd who my first thought said he's bad news. Then after talking to him for an hour or so I disregarded my initial thoughts and said... meh he's fine. I'm sure he's fine... but, after thinking it through we landed on him absolutely not being fine and then he proved us right on it... his charisma almost worked, charming and fake (think of the used car salesman shady dad vibes from Maltilda)
We've got green lights until we get a red light.
Also I'm in a weird space so don't mind my rambeling. I waited eight years for a call I desperately wanted and just when I decided it wasn't going to happen and to pivot I got the call.
Constantly reminded of how I got my name.. the short version... you'll have to stop hiding in the background and it'll be your time to shine.
🥰 just finished one of my now favorite books. Its about deliberate practice instead of just repetition. Every time you are doing a thing - observe yourself and others to try and make it better each time. If you fail - learn what you could do to make it better next time.
Also Lenard asked me to remind everyone that he's perfect.
These are the four books I studied through in August - Hundreds of pages of notes. These were all phenomenal.
Our brains do not have finite potential, if we get curious enough - we can mentally grow past everything we thought we were ever capable of.
Common knowledge can be deceptive because it gives us an excuse to stop questioning and accept that things are the way they are and what if what you know to be true, isn't true at all. ~Rare Breed

Just finished this book. I've been deep diving into confidence and what it truly means.
I think a lot of times we get caught up bowing to people who walk in a spirit of arrogance and we mistake it for confidence.
Arrogance is grounded in insecurity.
Confidence is grounded in a deep sense of knowing we have done the work and we are at our core capable.
Arrogance is a lot of talk
Confidence is a lot of action

Don't mind me just studying away.
Finished these two! I used up my book credits on Everand and Audible so I had to go resort to Libby 😆🙃
How to talk to anyone kinda felt like 48 laws of power/ how to win friends and influence people... However Power of voice was quite lovely!
I love when information makes the world make more sense.
