hey friends! an update from JR for buying shinkansen tickets on the SmartEX app: 

🚅 From Oct 1 2023, you will be able to book shinkansen tickets 1 year in advance on SmartEX (instead of 1 month in advance). And, they'll be revising and launching new early booking discounts too.
so if you plan to travel Japan during peak seasons like New Year or sakura seasons, you can start reserving your tickets from Oct 1 this year, with new discounts! Yay 🥳

Hey friends! The JR Group just announced a price increase of the JR Pass. 69%❗️
7-day pass: 29,650 yen → 50,000 yen → UP 69%
14-day pass: 47,250 yen → 80,000 yen → UP 69%
21-day pass: 60,450 yen → 100,000 yen → UP 65%
Effective October 2023.
The price will be applied the same everywhere (agencies, online, counters in Japan).
The good news is you'll get to use the fastest bullet trains (Nozomi, Mizuho), which can't be used with the current JR Pass.
Probably book your trip to Japan early before the price shoot up?!

hey friends! some of you asked how to link the ticket you bought to an IC card on Smartex. so here it is. in each of the tickets you bought, there will be an option to "Designate" it to an IC card. Just hit "Designate" and select your IC card and it's done.
