1940s cooking and stories

Step back in time with me as I recreate recipes from the 1940s! Using authentic cookbooks like the Boston Cooking-School Cook Book by Fannie Farmer and Stork Wartime Cookery Book I explore wartime kitchen traditions, ration-friendly meals, and post-war treats. From comforting puddings and pies to mock dishes, discover the stories, history, and flavours that defined this era. Perfect for vintage cooking enthusiasts, history lovers, and anyone seeking a taste of the past!

1940s cooking and stories

Hello my dear friends,
I’ve been away for a little while, but I’m slowly making my way back. I have some amazing news to share—we are expecting a baby! I’m just over 13 weeks now, so there’s still a long journey ahead, and all your prayers are very welcome.
I wasn’t able to work on my channel recently because early pregnancy was a bit harder on me this time compared to my first. I was extremely tired and could only manage my daily tasks, so everything extra had to be put on hold. I also had some food aversions, so filming a cooking show just wasn’t possible. But things are finally settling, and I can’t wait to return.
A new video is coming on Friday, 28th November, where I’ll be talking about the pros and cons of being pregnant in the 1940s and the special food treats pregnant women received during that time.
I hope you’re all doing well, and I can’t wait to connect with you again. ❤️

1940s cooking and stories

My dear friends,
I want to apologise for the delay in posting new videos. Life has thrown a few personal(positive)and technical challenges my way, and I’m still in the process of working through them — including possibly switching to a new video editing app.
But I have two new videos ready for you! The first one will be out this Monday if all goes well. In it, I’ll be sharing a bit of history about Operation Pied Piper, along with a cosy, two-course dinner straight from the garden: Tomato Soup and Lancashire Butter Pie — perfect for the autumn weather.
Thank you for your patience and continued support.
With lots of love,
Olga
