Interested in Motorcycles? So are we! Rider Ramblings is about everything to do with motorcycles. It doesn’t focus on any one part. It will try to show you how to do things and give you information about “the why” as well. At the same time discussing daily (motorcycling) life.
Having ridden over 250,000 miles (400,000 km) in the UK and Europe on motorcycles since 1983. Worked as a Dispatch Rider in London, where we rode in and around London Monday to Friday and serviced and repaired our motorcycles every Saturday. Over 14 years alone of commuting to work in France, more than 125,000 miles, on a trusty Honda Deauville (NT700VA). Currently riding a Yamaha FJR1300AE. I don't own a car
Rider Ramblings discusses both daily events and motorcycles filmed and and narrated while riding through interesting scenery.

Quick question.
Is anyone coming over to France, or to the EU, from the UK in the next 1-3 months? If so, would you be able to bring out a steering stem nut for me?
The company that supplies the special nut I require doesn't post outside of the UK. So, I would need to have the nut delivered to your address.
Let me know below (do *not* post your contact details).
Many thanks.
John

The Cowling and Front Stay video is taking a lot longer than expected. There are over 80 "assets" to go into the video (85 at the last count and still climbing). Each "asset" needs editing in some form before it can go into the video editing suite to create the final video. This is taking way, way longer than expected. Hopefully, the video will be released next Friday (30th May).
In the meantime, I have bought an item which may make the future videos better. It now arrives, according to FedEx, on Monday. I will do an unboxing and first use video on Tuesday and upload it for Wednesday as a "bonus" video.

This week's video will be released tomorrow morning, all being well. It's currently being edited.
My apologies for the delay.

We've all been there - Computer problems!
Wednesday - dropped the bike. Thursday - computer problems. Friday - video editing software won't re-install the licence.
After an automatic update, partially my fault for allowing them, virtually all the software stopped working. Therefore, next week's video is in 720p rather than glorious 4K.
There is a "silver lining" to this as it allows me to upgrade the OS to the latest, shiny, new version!
If I get everything fully up and running again before the video is released, I will re-render it in 4K. I have changed the Video editing software and I am currently learning how to use the new suite. It has some new toys (uh-oh) and seems to work a little quicker in 4K than the old one did.

Dropped the FJR!
Well it had to happen sooner or later but managed nearly 6 years without any significant damage.
So, how did it happen?
Filtering to the front at traffic lights I stopped and right foot couldn't hold the bike for some reason. Over she went and the mirror hit the tyre of the lorry beside me and broke it off and cracked the front plastic!
Buying the new parts from Europe will cost about 1,500€. Buying them from Japan costs about 600€ plus tax! I'll get them from Japan and wait for delivery, probably next month...
I carry gaffer tape with me on the bike, so, as you can see, she was soon patched up. Though the mirror is still skew-whiff. It's broken off on it's mounting under the plastic. I'll finagle it so I can use it until the new parts arrive.
As I was just opposite my destination, I had turned the camera off literally seconds before.
To add insult to injury, my computer has decided that the version of Linux is too old and automatically removed a number of important programs. So I am upgrading to the latest version at the moment.
Pah!

The "curse of exercise" has befallen me yet again!
I fell over during my morning run on Christmas Eve (No, I hadn't started the festivities early) and have sprained my wrist. So no riding for a while...
