I'm truly devestated to learn about the plane crash of American Airlines Flight 5342 from Wichita to D.C. I knew Spencer from meeting him during Cranberry cup, he made me feel so welcome and made the whole experience a lot more enjoyable. He was an inspiration to many skater's of all ages.
My deepest condolences go out to everyone who had loved ones or friends on the flight.
The Canadian National Skating Championships are in Calgary this week and I'll be there all week, so I won't be going to be skating on ODR this week. I do have a couple practice sessions, so I might get some shorts out from those.
I am not competing at Nationals this week - I am volunteering. I competed at Philippine Nationals in November. Good luck to all the competitors!
I will be posting some long form videos this week that we have recorded over the Christmas break.
This Outdoor skating season I plan on getting lots of videos done. I'm also on a quest to visit EVERY Outdoor Rink (ODR) in Calgary. The city has around 130 listed on their web site, this includes official city ODRs (like Olympic Plaza and Carburn Park Lagoon), Community Association ODRs (like Willow Ridge, my favorite!), and 'Adopt-a-Rinks', which are small sheets of ice in parks maintained by community members. Some of these are tiny, but I'm going to try to get a Double Axel done on every rink!
If schedules permit I want to also get out to the mountains and skate on some Wild Ice!
