Валентина Гуркаленко — советский и российский режиссёр документального и научно-популярного кино, заслуженный деятель искусств. Руководитель режиссерской мастерской СПбГКиТ, профессор. На протяжении многих лет — художественный руководитель студии «Леннаучфильм». Член киноакадемии «Ника», действительный член Петровской академии наук и искусств. Главные темы киноисследований — история, культуры и герои России, взаимосвязи судьбы человеческой и судьбы народной. Живёт и работает в Санкт-Петербурге.

Valentina Gurkalenko is a Soviet and Russian director of documentary and popular science films. Head of the director's workshop of the SPb Institute of Film and Television. For many years he has been the artdirector of the Lennauchfilm. Member of the Nika film academy, member of the Petrovskaya Academy of Sciences and Arts. The main topics of film research are the history, culture and heroes of Russia, the relationship between human destiny and people's destiny. Lives in St. Petersburg.
