Can you spot the little visitor we have had?
.
The little tropical patio pond has already had many visitors from birds to bugs but this was the first amphibian!
.
I love little ponds like this, it's surprising how a little bit of water can bring so much life to a garden!
.
We built this little pond in this video here if you want to see how we did it!

Have you ever kept a nippy fish? Are they nasty or just misunderstood?
.
The Barbs in our new aquarium setup are amazing. Although they don't stop swimming, I reckon they are some of the most active fish we have currently.
.
The new setup video is out now on our channel if you want to see it.

Choosing a pond filter isn't a "one size fits all" job pick the wrong one, and you’re looking at a soup of green water and endless maintenance. Here is the quick breakdown of the big three that we discuss in our newest YouTube video.

In-Pond Filters: The easiest choice to install. Everything sits completely submerged out of sight. Perfect for smaller setups or pre-formed patio features where you don’t want bulky gear ruining the view.

Box / Flow Through Filters: The reliable workhorse. These sit right on the edge of the pond and rely on gravity to pour the clean water back in. They offer massive filtration capacity and are incredibly easy to open up and clean.

Pressure Filters: The versatile filter. Because the canister is completely sealed under pressure, you can bury it in the ground and pump the clean water right up to the top of a massive waterfall. Plus, most come with a simple backwash valve so you can clean it without getting your hands dirty.

We just dropped a massive, deep-dive video breaking down the exact pros, cons, and hidden features of these systems so you don’t waste money on the wrong setup.

What's everyone doing this Sunday?
We have a grumpy teething 3 month old, so we had to enlist the help of the non grumpy 3 year old!
.
Water change and algae wipe on the ‪@oase_global‬ Highline 600 finished. Then a feed of ‪@NTLabsOfficialSite‬ tablet food to get all the fish back out.
.
Hopefully by this afternoon I can spend a little time in the garden reading the new ‪@practicalfishkeeping‬ magazine!

Extreme heat calls for extreme measures!
.
What have you all done to keep your aquariums cool recently?
.
We made a makeshift lid lift so we could blast a fan across the surface to keep our saltwater tank cool.

9 months on and the Shelldwellers are still doing great!
Can you spot the second fish in this photo?
They will soon need a bigger home as the babies keep popping their heads out of the shells.
I'll link both videos below in case you want to go watch.

Liquid tests or dip tests, which do you use and trust?
.
We released a video last week because a phone call from a mate with sick fish led me down a massive water testing rabbit hole.
.
He swore his water parameters were "fine" but he was using dip strips. Honestly? Eight or nine times out of ten, those strips aren't accurate enough to help you.
.
Leaving the lives of our fish to one side for a second, even on a pure wallet basis, saving just one group of Neon Tetras pays back the cost of a proper liquid kit. It just makes sense.

Shoutout to ‪@NTLabsOfficialSite‬ for doing a great thing! They redesigned their test kits, and they managed to cut out a ton of plastic and packaging waste.

As someone who tests water a lot, these changes make a huge difference. Faster testing, less clutter, less waste. Love it!

The Ammonia test is easier now. They cut it down from 3 reagents to just 2. Fewer bottles, faster results. Huge win.
No more separate sticker sheets! (Am I the only one who always lost these?) The test tube labels are now built right onto the reagent bottles you just peel and stick them straight onto the tubes.
They shrunk the tubes. They went from 10ml to 5ml, which cuts down on plastic but still gives you the exact same accuracy.
Ditched the plastic wrap. The new boxes are fully enclosed, meaning no unnecessary shrink-wrap or outer sleeves.

They basically trimmed all the bulk, the new Aquarium, Pond, and Marine kits have up to 48% less cardboard and up to 26% less plastic weight.

Honestly, I love seeing brands I work with actually listen to feedback and make changes that are better for us and the planet.

We have a whole new video coming out on testing very soon!

Have you guys spotted the new boxes yet? Let me know what you think!

We do love our little No dig nature pond, It has brought so much life to that part of the garden and all at a height that our boy can enjoy it and watch everything up close.
We will be filming a few little updates on this over the next few months so watch this space and also check out our YT for the original build video and updates on the pond.

I can tell all of you are all starting to think about your gardens and ponds. The comments on older videos have been flying in over the last few weeks.
This fish pond has been one of the most popular recently, I guess with the plants, fish, filtration, lighting and everything else that happened in this project there is a lot to talk about.
You can find the full video over on our YT or if you already have a pond we have just made a video all about pond plants that will help you design your planting.
