Torah Portions: Acharei Mot / Kedoshim
Torah Readings: Leviticus 16:1–20:27
Prophetic Readings: Malachi 3:4–24 / Ezekiel 22:1–16

“Believers Are Called to be a Holy People and Behave in a Pure Way”

This week’s double Torah portion emphasizes a foundational Biblical truth:

G-d calls His people to live in holiness,
set apart from the standards of the world.

At the conclusion of Parashat Acharei Mot, Scripture declares:

“And you shall keep My charge, not doing any of the abominable statutes… and do not contaminate yourselves with them; I am HaShem your G-d.”
(Leviticus 18:30)

This command reveals something critical:

The practices G-d forbids were not random behaviors—
they were the accepted norms of society.

In other words, what was culturally approved
was spiritually offensive to HaShem.

This teaches us a sobering truth:

Not everything that is legal or socially accepted
is aligned with the will of G-d.

Believers are not called to follow culture—
they are called to follow truth.

More than 3,000 years later, this reality remains unchanged.

Today, many values promoted by governments and societies
stand in direct opposition to the Word of G-d.

What Scripture defines as purity,
the world increasingly rejects.

And what the world celebrates,
G-d often calls an abomination.

This tension is not accidental—
it is prophetic.

Scripture warns that faithfulness to truth
will eventually lead to opposition,
and even persecution.

Therefore, the question is not simply what we believe—
but how we live.

Are we conforming to the standards of this world,
or are we pursuing a life marked by holiness?

When Israel obeyed G-d in Egypt—
even when it meant going against the law of the land—
they experienced redemption.

Those who did not obey
faced judgment.

This pattern remains consistent:

G-d honors those who walk in obedience,
even when it requires courage, sacrifice,
and separation from the world.

🕊️ May this Shabbat remind us
that we are called to be a holy people,
that purity is not optional,
and that true faithfulness means living according to His Word—
not the ways of this world.

📖 This Shabbat We Study Parashat Tazria / Metzora (She Shall Conceive / Leprosy)

“G-d Uses the People Who Are Most Interested in Responding to Him”

This week’s double Torah portion highlights an essential spiritual principle:
G-d honors those who are committed to responding to Him according to His instructions—regardless of inconvenience or circumstance.

In Parashat Tazria, after childbirth, a woman was required to bring offerings before HaShem following her time of purification.

Scripture teaches that even in moments of great joy, such as the birth of a child, one must remain mindful of holiness and of honoring G-d according to His standards.

The text notably places the elevation offering before the sin offering, revealing something profound:

The woman’s priority was not merely ritual cleansing—
it was the exaltation of HaShem.

This teaches us a timeless Biblical truth:

Everything G-d gives us is meant to bring Him glory.

Even blessings must be responded to in obedience.

The issue was not simply that she offered sacrifice—
but that she did so in the way and at the time G-d required.

This reminds us that:

We are called to live according to His schedule,
not merely respond when it is convenient for us.

Luke highlights that Yoseph and Miryam demonstrated this very obedience after Yeshua’s birth:

“When the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him to Jerusalem…”
(Luke 2:22–24)

Their example reveals an enduring truth:

G-d uses those who are most willing to respond to Him faithfully,
even when obedience requires sacrifice, effort, or inconvenience.

🕊️ May this Shabbat remind us
that obedience honors HaShem,
that blessing should lead to worship,
and that G-d uses those who are eager to respond to Him according to His Word.

📖 This Shabbat We Study Parashat Shemini (Eighth)

Torah Portion: Shemini (Eighth)
Torah Reading: Leviticus 9:1–11:47
Prophetic Reading: 2 Samuel 6:1–7:17

“Atonement Is Necessary for the Manifestation of Glory”

In Parashat Shemini, Scripture emphasizes a deeply significant moment: the eighth day. In the Bible, the number eight often represents something new—linked to redemption and the Kingdom of G-D.

On this day, Aaron begins his priestly service, and we see a foundational principle revealed:
before blessing, there must be atonement.

The text declares:
“And Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them… and the glory of the L-rd appeared to all the people.” (Leviticus 9:22–23)

This sequence is not accidental.

The role of the Kohanim was not simply ritual—it was transformational. Through the offerings for sin, a pathway was made for something greater:
the manifestation of G-D’s presence among His people.

This reveals a powerful spiritual truth:

Atonement is not the final goal—
it is the necessary condition for intimacy with G-D.

The true blessing is not merely forgiveness, but His glory dwelling among us.

Today, through Messiah Yeshua—the ultimate and perfect sacrifice—we enter into a new reality. His work has made it possible for us to participate in a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9), called to reflect His light and bring others into His presence.

Shemini reminds us that
without atonement, there is no blessing—
and without His presence, there is no true life.

🕊️ May this Shabbat remind us
that atonement opens the door to His glory,
that His presence is the true blessing,
and that we are called to walk in the light of His Kingdom.

📖 This Shabbat We Study Parashat Tzav (Commandment)

Torah Portion: Tzav (Commandment)
Torah Reading: Leviticus 6:1–8:36
Prophetic Reading: Malachi 3:4–24

“The Eternally Sufficient Sacrifice of Messiah”

In Parashat Tzav, we encounter a repeated and significant word: “this.” In Scripture, this word often introduces something foundational. For example, “This is the offering of Aaron and his sons…” (Leviticus 6:13). It reveals the primary role of the Kohanim: to deal with sin through sacrifice.

This offering is described as perpetual. At first glance, one might assume that each priest had to offer it daily. However, the Torah clarifies something deeper. This sacrifice was made once to inaugurate the priest into service, while the Kohen HaGadol (High Priest) offered it daily on behalf of all.

This introduces a powerful spiritual insight.

The High Priest is referred to as the Kohen HaMashiach—the Anointed Priest. This points us directly to Messiah Yeshua, who offered Himself once and for all as the eternally sufficient sacrifice for sin.

Unlike the daily Temple sacrifices, His offering does not need to be repeated. It is complete. It is eternal.

The Torah states: “This is the law of the sin offering.” Once again, the word “this” emphasizes the central mission: atonement.

Tzav reminds us that the core of G-d’s redemptive plan is the removal of sin through a perfect sacrifice.

🕊️ May this Shabbat remind us
that Messiah’s sacrifice is eternally sufficient,
that our identity is rooted in His finished work,
and that true worship flows from remembering what He has done for us.
