I was in my seat when one of them (a monitor) finally speaks up. Reaching. Loud. Bold.

"You're jealous of me"

I don't speak nor laugh.

I tilt my head and said slowly, " Jealous of what? You watching me live the life you dream about?"

Silence.

"Jealousy requires comparison. And I don't compare myself to 'pick-mes' "

Nobody gasped. They just know. Because the cruelest part isn’t what I said, it’s that I walk away immediately after that with a deadly glare, that made her shiver.

I go back to being loved.
They go back to being loud about someone they’ll never be.
That’s not jealousy.
