Hey, I'm JShips, but my viewer base usually just calls me Josh (my real name) or J. On this channel, you can find a variety of content. I constantly build 1:1 ships in Minecraft, so just request one that you want me to build, and I will put it on my list! I also occasionally play Roblox: Tiny Sailor's World, where my most popular series in it is "The Last Routes" (TLR). Every Saturday, I upload a short "Brief History" video on a ship from people's requests. You can suggest all sorts of content for me to make, and I will look into it.

Welcome to the Ocean Liner Election of 1840, where we vote on the Passenger Ship that best represents the time period it was built in. The elections are hypothetically held in December of every 3rd year. Some ships may have their younger sisters or similar ships as running mates in case something happens to it while it is the incumbent "Luxurious Liner," as it will be called. If they don't have a running mate, and something happens to it, an incumbent LL just doesn't exist until the next election. I will make these posts every Saturday. I will post the candidates as L.L. (Luxurious Liner) and R.M. (Running Mate)

That being said...

Candidate 1: Cunard Line πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§
L.L. - RMS Columbia (Sept 1840) 1150 GRT
R.M. - RMS Caledonia (May 1840) 1150 GRT

Candidate 2: Great Western S.S. Co. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§
L.L. - SS Great Western (Apr 1838) 1700 GRT
R.M. [None]

Candidate 3: British & American S.N. Co. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
L.L. - SS President (Aug 1840) 2350 GRT
R.M. - SS British Queen (Jul 1839) 1850 GRT

Candidate 4: St. George S.P. Co. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§
L.L. - SS Sirius (Aug 1837) 703 GRT
R.M. - [None]

In your opinion, historically, who was the best ship captain out of these four?

OTD 81 Years Ago, the German Built Cruise Ship, now Troop Ship "Wilhelm Gustloff", while trying escape the enemy in Operation Hannibal with over 10,000 people on board, was spotted by Soviet Submarine S-13. S-13 fired four torpedoes, but one of them jammed. The three that didn't all struck the Gustloff. She capsized and sank in an hour, and of the 10,000 people on board, only a few hundred survived. At over 9,500 casualties, the Wilhelm Gustloff remains the worst maritime disaster in world history.

I've been chipping away at Germanic 1916 in my free time today, and I have a question. She has three funnels, but should the 3rd be fake or real?

I'm quite busy this week and a good chunk of next. If the next Brief History Episode doesn't come Saturday, like it's supposed to, it will either come later in the weekend or sometime late next week. Thanks for your understanding.

PS, the next episode is the Queen Mary
