I’m reading Ovid’s metamorphoses and I got very irritated at the ending of Book 1. SO JUPITER rapes Io ksksksksksksksksksksksks. Jupiter is the highest ranking god. WHO IS A CHEATER AND A RAPIST…AND AND ALSO A GOD????

Okay deep breath in.

What is even a God if he does that?

So a god I’ve come to notice is a being that can control (therefore has power) what we as humans cannot control water, sun, death, sky, birth, etc + immortality.

BUT IF A GOD CAN BE CRUEL— why should I worship him?? I will not. Should power make someone worthy of reverence?? NO.

There’s nothing that will convince me that ‘God’ is the highest being— so I did digging and apparently I found out that FATES COMMAND EVEN THE GODS.

SO WILL THE FATES PUNISH THE GOD?? I searched. The answer is…no :)

Plato criticised these myths given that if the highest being in the universe behaves worse than a good human being THEN there’s something wrong in the picture.

I think a God just commands obedience to human-uncontrollables. God is about power, and not Good specially in this Roman myth.

I’ve come to this realisation that the universe doesn’t have a moral compass. The cause and effect relationship of bad = punishment doesn’t exist. Where is karm (I won’t write karma what is even that word it gives me ickies) here?

Then well WHY WOULD YOU BE GOOD when justice doesn’t exist?

Maybe justice was invented by humanity. And if that’s true? I would rather devote myself to it than a God like Jupiter.

I made this yesterday and I don’t think I’ve ever ‘seen’ or ‘felt’ myself before…seen-seen-existent-existent. I felt like something inside me gave what’s the material-me (the bodily me) some kind of ‘warmth’ like the sensation you get in a hug…I think about free-will sometimes and given I’ll just blindly follow whatever Robert Sapolsky would say (don’t come after me now I have a few faiths myself) FREE WILL DOES NOT EXIST— whatever we do is the structure of our brain + the state of our environment combined. My humble take is just that…maybe there’s more to existence than the physical-material ‘self’. Like maybe our existence can be bifurcated into 2 dimensions. And this other realm is the unobservable, unquantifiable, unseen is the ‘spirit self’. Now I don’t wanna make this about woo-woo manifestation at all, I just don’t want to deny that we have a soul (where the soul is this being) and a spirit (that’s the ‘life force’ of this being) only because we cannot hear, smell, taste and see it. Notice how I didn’t say touch? Well in the beginning I mentioned that ‘hug’. The spirit can be felt…I don’t mean to deny science but at the same time I don’t want to dishonour the spirit and say it doesn’t exist. Maybe we have a material self (this body) in a material realm (this earth) to enter the physical as the physical…to experience our spirit in the material realm. Now this doesn’t mean that the material is not important or ‘lesser’ it just means that the material…is well, itself— the material. This is not about what’s the superior choice (because choice doesn’t exist)…but just think about it the material has no free-will but to be exactly what it is. I think that the soul also doesn’t have a choice but to be itself…I believe that if we deny ourselves the soul— we dishonour the mind with the insult that it doesn’t exist and hereafter the mind gets sick and science calls it ‘disorder’ when all this time it has been an imbalance between the 2 realms and we got stuck in this fabric between them. My conclusion is that the soul also doesn’t have free-will…it has to exist here. There’s an expression ‘sold their soul’ I think represents this exchange that I’m slightly offended at— to gain more of the material, the soul is bartered away into nonexistence/denial.
