Celtic Roots Farm
We are a small family farm in Gilmanton Ironworks New Hampshire. Our pride runs deep in our Scottish (Jay) and Irish (Cheryl) heritage.
Currently we are involved in market gardening, and raising a wide variety of chickens and ducks. In 2020, we raised two Idaho pasture pigs (Hamm-Solo and Chewbacon) and over 100 jumbo Cornish Cross chickens. Our goal at the moment is to finish building our second greenhouse that is 20x97. Although homesteading is fairly new to us, we are enjoying these new challenges and would like to eventually turn this into a full time business.
We love and support our homestead community and our hope is that, through our videos, we will encourage, motivate and help others to take the next step to a more sustainable lifestyle.

Update on Jay:
Thank you for the messages, calls and all the love that everyone has sent our way. ❤️
Also - A HUGE thank you to The Big Family Homestead for getting the word out about what happened to Jay. We love you guys!
We met with the neurology team and they had good news for us. Apparently, they believe this was a T.I.A. (Transient Ischemic Attack) …a lesser version of a stroke… (mini stroke) which are temporary and doesn’t cause permant scarring/damage.
He has finally been discharged and needs plenty of rest. He gets dizzy and winded talking on the phone, so if you do call, please limit any phone calls to a few minutes.

First off, I wanted to say that we miss you all so much! If you are patient with us, we will be back and stronger than ever.
We do have some really sad news on the farm today though… The infamous Mr. Phil is gone. It’s been several days and we haven’t seen him. We think it may have been a predator.
Mr. Phil had a long standing loyal and loving fan base that enjoyed his unique look and terrible attitude. He will be missed for sure. ❤️

Back in the 80’s my father and I worked on a greenhouse in a famous gated community of multi- million dollar homes called, Llewellyn Park in West Orange New Jersey.
The greenhouse we worked on was from the family of Robert Gair… the inventor of the cardboard box. Thomas Edison actually once owned the home that was a few doors down.
The estate and the gardens were breathtaking! I have very fond memories working side by side with my father that summer. Miss you Dad. ❤️
