Not sure of the exact reason, but I speculate that it might've had something to do with the parent company's 'Pro' music division acquisition. Perhaps no more funds, nor efforts were pursued after OS version 1.71 was released.. and, therefore, no real descriptions were published across many features that were added, post version 1.50. I'm sure there's a handful that know the real story behind this, but.. as far as I can see.. there's not a lot of literature covering the 'extras' in OS v1.71. So, I decided to try and unravel some of these mysteries myself. It's almost as if the engineers put the last of what they were working on 'out' before the ship was abandoned. Here's a deep dive into Q-Links, much of which, was never mentioned officially by Akai.

20 years ago, today, we lost one of the finest beat-smiths to ever grace the MPC3000. His name was James Dewitt Yancey, AKA J Dilla / Jay Dee. He would've turned 52 last Saturday, February 7th, so DJ Ransom, and myself, recorded a tribute to one of HipHops greatest and most revered beat-maker/producers of all time.
