CharisDEVO: Start With Forgiveness
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
— Ephesians 1:7
Many people have remained bound—emotionally, spiritually, and even physically—because they continue to harbor unforgiveness and bitterness in their hearts. What we hold onto in secret often affects us more deeply than we realize.
Forgiving one another in love is one of the quickest pathways to healing from heaven. God is not pleased when we refuse to forgive, because unforgiveness contradicts the very grace we have received.
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much.
— James 5:16
Prayer becomes heavy and ineffective when it is offered from a heart weighed down by grudges. It is difficult to touch the heart of God while refusing to release others.
As children of God, we are called to ask for forgiveness when we have wronged others and to freely extend forgiveness when we are wronged. When we do, the healing power of Jesus flows without obstruction.
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.
— Ephesians 4:32
The greatest reason we forgive is because Christ first forgave us at the cross. Forgiveness is not optional for the believer—it is evidence that we truly know Jesus and live by His grace.

CharisDEVO: A Friend of God
“And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, ‘Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.’ And he was called the friend of God.” — James 2:23
The highest form of fellowship with God is not merely serving Him—it is being called His friend. There is no greater privilege in this world than walking in friendship with the Creator of the universe.
We can relate to God as servants, as sons and daughters, and as friends. While God is indeed a loving Father who delights in family, He also desires for us to grow deeper—to ascend into genuine friendship with Him.
Friendship with God is marked by obedience. As friends, we become doers of His Word and not hearers only (James 1:22). Abraham was a doer because he trusted God completely. He believed that if he walked by faith, God would take care of him—and God counted that faith as righteousness.
“No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.” — John 15:15
Jesus called His disciples friends because friends are trusted with insight. Servants follow instructions, but friends understand the heart behind the instruction. God shared His plans with Abraham before judging Sodom and Gomorrah because Abraham was His friend.
God still desires this level of intimacy with us today. There are things in His heart He longs to reveal—but they are shared in friendship, not at a distance.
Let us desire to walk closely with Jesus, not only as servants who obey, but as friends who know His heart.

CharisDEVO: God, Why Are You Silent?
“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever…” — John 14:16
We have all faced moments when it felt like God wasn’t speaking—times when His voice seemed distant or too quiet for us to discern. But Scripture reminds us to be mindful of His indwelling presence.
No matter how difficult your current situation is, God is with you and within you. He is never mute, never deaf, and never blind to what you are going through.
What’s often overlooked is this: when we think God is silent, He is usually speaking through His written Word.
“Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—
In the volume of the book it is written of Me—
To do Your will, O God.’ ” — Hebrews 10:7
God’s will for your life is already in scripture. When His voice seems quiet, immerse yourself in His Word. Believe what you read, because the written Word is His voice.
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” — John 14:26
The Holy Spirit—your Helper, Teacher, and Reminder—ensures that God is never truly silent. He speaks, guides, and comforts through the Scriptures and through His presence within you.

CharisDEVO: The Power of Intercessory Prayers
Interceding for one another is one of our priestly responsibilities. Jesus, our perfect High Priest, is the ultimate Intercessor who teaches us to stand in the gap just as He does.
Though He is not physically present on earth, the Bible says He continues to make intercession for us at the right hand of God the Father. He has never stopped praying for His people.
Intercession simply means standing in the gap—lifting up the burdens of others before the Lord. We are not designed to carry our loads alone. Intercessory prayer allows us to speak to God on behalf of others so that He can release heavenly assistance into their lives.
God designed the earth and entrusted dominion to mankind. Because of this divine order, He often waits for His people to ask before He intervenes. Prayer is the invitation that brings His power into our circumstances.
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.” — 1 Timothy 2:1
There are people in dire situations all over the world who desperately need your prayers. Your intercession can turn situations around, open doors, break yokes, and usher in God’s mercy.
Paul encouraged Timothy to pray for all men—the good and the evil, the kind and the hostile.
Don’t only pray for the people you favor. Pray for those who dislike you. Pray for those who oppose you. Pray for those who love Jesus and for those who are far from Him. Your prayers carry eternal weight.

CharisDEVO: The blessed assurance of Jesus in you
“And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.”
1 John 3:24 KJV
The human mind has a natural tendency to wander—from thought to thought and from place to place. A mind not anchored by the Word of God will continue to drift until it is renewed by truth.
As children of God, we may face situations that make us question whether the Lord is truly with us. But Scripture gives us a clear way to know our standing in Christ: we look at what God has written about us.
We are sons and daughters of God, and He has made this known by giving us His Holy Spirit. Not every person in the world has the Spirit of God. Being human does not automatically mean being in Christ or having Christ dwell in us.
Only those who have received Jesus Christ into their hearts carry this blessed assurance—that the Lord abides in them, and they in Him.
“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”
Galatians 3:26 NKJV
We know who we are because the Spirit of God bears witness within us that we belong to Him (Romans 8:16). Arrest those thoughts by studying and meditating on God’s word concerning His presence within us.
Thank You, Jesus, for including us in Your fold by Your grace and mercy.

CharisDEVO: Choking Your Distractions
“And the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the Word, and it becomes unfruitful.”
— Mark 4:19
Hearing the Word of God produces faith within us. The more we consistently expose our hearts to Scripture, the clearer God’s will becomes, and the more aligned we become with Him.
God calls us into His Word because it carries everything we need to live, endure, and thrive on earth—wisdom, direction, strength, peace, and spiritual nourishment.
Yet, this world competes aggressively for our attention. Distractions don’t just interrupt us—they attempt to persuade us away from God. The Bible defines these diversions as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life:
“For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.”
— 1 John 2:16
This is why merely hearing the Word is not enough. Transformation happens when we act on it. We must resist the pull to constantly gratify the flesh, surrender to complaint, or allow anxiety to dictate our decisions.
True spiritual maturity means trusting that God’s Word is pure, complete, and sufficient just as it is—choosing obedience over impulse, faith over pressure, and God over noise.
