Welcome! My name is Nico Carver, and this YouTube channel is all about astrophotography. I tend to focus on astrophotography education for beginners, but as the channel has grown, I'm also delving more into reviews of the latest gear for astrophotography as well as more advanced topics. Feel free to send me a message (email, instagram, discord, etc.). It may take me a while, but I try to reply to all my messages.

West of the Elephant Trunk

This is a deep field centered on the dark nebula B174. I used Ha and OIII filters to bring out the emission nebula structures in this field. The OIII bubble around λ Cephei is especially cool-looking I think. I have a big backlog of data from my remote rig at Starfront. This is the first one I've finished processing in almost a year! Stars over Shanghai
I’ve been having a wonderful time on this trip to China, and was even able to fit some astrophotography in! Swipe for both English and Chinese annotations.

A wider view of Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) from the early morning of Oct. 5th from my backyard in New Hampshire.

This weekend I hope to get my first view of this comet in the evening (low on the NW horizon right after sunset).

Edit: this trip has now filled. Thank you for your interest! I'm sure there will be more opportunities like this in the future. ~Nico

From May 13th to 18th, 2026, I will be leading a trip to San Pedro de Atacama, Chile in collaboration with TourHero. This will be a chance to see and photograph the Southern Hemisphere skies from an ideal location. The hotel is a bit outside of town and has a designated dark sky spot for us with AC power. During the day, I will be leading processing workshops (all included). There are also optional add-ons to visit local attractions. Solo and couple packages are available.

Have you captured Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) yet? Here's one of my shots from the morning of October 5th. If it looks like it is still brightening into next week when it becomes an evening comet, I'll probably make a video.

I'll be going LIVE tonight (Saturday, June 14) at 9:30PM ET (6:30pm PT, 0130 UTC).
youtube.com/@NebulaPhotos/streams

In the first hour or so, I'll be reviewing astrophotos sent to my PO Box, and then once it gets dark in Texas, I'll start a tour of nebulae in Cygnus through an Ha filter (mono) doing a short live stack on each one. Will keep going until we run out of bright nebulae or I get tired. I'll be using my remote rig at Starfront Remote Observatories this time. Hope to see you there!

I'll be going LIVE tonight (Wednesday, April 23) at 8PM ET (5pm PT, 0:00 UTC). youtube.com/@NebulaPhotos/streams

In the first hour, I'll be reviewing more astrophotos sent to my PO Box, and then once it gets dark I'll start a tour of the brightest galaxies out right now doing a short live stack on each one. I'll be using the Askar 185 APO telescope. I practiced this last night to work out the kinks and it was a lot of fun. Hope to see you there!

It's Galaxy Season, and I'm testing some new gear I brought back from NEAF. The rig I used to take this photo of the Leo Triplet is:

Pretty impressed by the result for just 2 hours of exposure!
What are you looking to image in the next month?

Clear skies, Nico
