Welcome! My name is Nico Carver, and this YouTube channel is all about astrophotography. I tend to focus on astrophotography education for beginners, but as the channel has grown, I'm also delving more into reviews of the latest gear for astrophotography as well as more advanced topics. Feel free to send me a message (email, instagram, discord, etc.). It may take me a while, but I try to reply to all my messages.

I'll be going LIVE tonight (Wednesday, April 23) at 8PM ET (5pm PT, 0:00 UTC). youtube.com/@NebulaPhotos/streams

In the first hour, I'll be reviewing more astrophotos sent to my PO Box, and then once it gets dark I'll start a tour of the brightest galaxies out right now doing a short live stack on each one. I'll be using the Askar 185 APO telescope. I practiced this last night to work out the kinks and it was a lot of fun. Hope to see you there!

It's Galaxy Season, and I'm testing some new gear I brought back from NEAF. The rig I used to take this photo of the Leo Triplet is:

-Airy Disk APO 96mm Triplet Refractor bit.ly/4jm7UQM
-Sky-watcher EQ-AL55i bit.ly/42Dkd3W
-QHY miniCAM8 bit.ly/4jgjg8O

Full resolution and tech. details on Astrobin: app.astrobin.com/i/g5943s

Pretty impressed by the result for just 2 hours of exposure!
What are you looking to image in the next month?

Clear skies, Nico

Here's the full rundown of what I'll be up to:

Saturday, April 5th
No official events for me, but I'll be arriving at NEAF in the early afternoon and will be walking the show floor meeting people until close (6pm). So if this is the only day you'll be at NEAF, please look for me and say hello!

3rd annual Nebula Photos Patreon Meetup at NEAF! Details on Patreon: tinyurl.com/nebula-neaf25
Other than the Patreon meetup from 3-4pm, I'll be walking around at NEAF again so if you see me, please feel free to say hi.

Monday, April 7th - Tuesday, April 8th
I will be leading a four-part Intro to Astrophotography at NEAIC, with sessions from 11am-12pm and 2:30-3:30pm each day of the conference. Descriptions for my talks here: www.neafexpo.com/copy-of-neaic-coming-soon#comp-lf…

Attention Mac Users: I'm working on a video about installing FREE astronomy software on a Mac. If you are a Mac user who uses any kind of free astronomy software, could you please check this list, and let me know if I'm missing anything that you use. For this video I'm only interested in free software that will run natively on an M3 Mac with the latest OS.

How often do you PRINT your astrophotography?

Have you used Siril's Star Recomposition process? I continue to be SO impressed by it. I'm able to stretch the nebula and the stars separately and with a huge amount of granularity. Yes, there are other ways to do this, but not this seamlessly and easily with a live image preview. I'll be showing off its power again in my next video - coming soon! To prepare for that video, download Siril and Starnet (CLI version)! siril.org/ and starnetastro.com/ and get starnet integrated into Siril. Watch my video here for instructions: https://youtu.be/gyOa8eNIVlk (check the timestamps to skip ahead to your operating system - for Siril you need to install the CLI version of Starnet)
