During this month long weekend public holiday, we managed to complete DIY Ilhan's study table which has been postponed for quite some time.
The wood top surface is wood which were salvaged from clearing out land to grow food at our Mosumbu Hill Forest Garden.
We purchased online for table legs metal brackets.
These brackets can be reused again in the future if we have different design ideas. Vlog: https://youtu.be/DLEJPoYBoqc
Finally complete the uplifting bathroom door project on one side of the master bedroom. Spent less than RM35 to make the bathroom door look brand new again with a new look. Vlog: https://youtu.be/bzaafGRTJCk
During the last school holiday in early June 2025, we went for a short trip to Poring area part of Crocker range terrain. Poring part of Ranau district is also a host for Sabah's largest flower of the species known as Rafflesia keithii. We were lucky when we chose to visit a local private garden named Adenna Rafflesia Garden beside the main road in Poring. There were 6 blooming Rafflesia keithii and different rafflesia life cycle plants phase which can also be observed.
In the Middle of May 2025, we stayed overnight at an interesting wonderful accommodation named Secret Villa, Kudat after enjoying visiting several beaches spots at Kudat, Sabah, Malaysia, North Borneo. Travel vlog: https://youtu.be/cFS_cviA-Wc?si=wT65R...
At the end of April 2025, we went to Keningau and stayed overnight. Early in the Sunday morning, we went to visit the traditional farmer's market in Keningau town. There are so many interesting local products to bring back home here especially the local handmade handicrafts and fresh fruits. Vlog for the Tamu Keningau visit link : https://youtu.be/Gdqg34dMOzo
Flowering season of turmeric plant in our region was in the month of December. It was really fun and enjoyable to get to eat the rare food resource of the flower brackets and its inflorescences since it is seasonal compared to the common tubers. https://youtu.be/7-7gTFr9Rp0?si=MgpYw...
Previously we did thought of changing to a new door design for the main front entrance door. But then decided to repainted it (not enough budget, not a priority). We chose the Chalk Paint by Folkart Home Decor - Cascade color. Also add some wall decorations and rearrange the furniture. This is how this corner looks like before and after : https://youtu.be/VVvepEXYmuI Feel refreshed with the new November look for this corner.
This year TARAP fruit season was really abundant at our Mosumbu Hill Forest Garden between July and August 2024. Tarap (Artocarpus odoratissimus) fruit is native to Borneo islands and can be considered as an exotic fruit.
At the moment it has limited cultivation distribution. Tarap (Artocarpus odoratissimus) : https://youtu.be/Zibu4AW6vS8
In Borneo islands Tarap seeds sprouted easily and considered as wild plant species.
When the Tarap fruit ripened it has a very fragrant smell not as pungently strong like durian fruit.
Like its relatives the cempedak (Artocarpus integer) fruit, Tarap (Artocarpus odoratissimus) has a very fragrant smell when riped and seeds are edible to eat when roasted or boiled.
Seeds taste like nuts.
Like the cempedak flesh, tarap flesh can also be cooked like banana/cempedak fritters.
